Have been using my shiny new Nike Golf Vapour Speed driver for the last couple of months with the face set at 12 degrees. Most drives struggle to get any real height, and tend to go 10-15 feet in the air.

Took my old Wilson Staff 10.5 degree driver out yesterday, and the difference was startling. The club felt very light in my hands compared to the Nike, and was launching really well with loads of height.

Distance was OK as well, wa hitting it at least as far as the Nike goes, probably a bit further.

Any rational explanation for this?

The shaft in the old driver actually suits you?

i bought the Nike with the senior flex shaft as I have just taken the game up at 55 and my swing is pretty slow, so thought that would be best for me.

the Wilson was £40 new off amazon, no choice of shaft, but is graphite, which I guess is why it feels so light compared to the Nike?

what shaft is in the nike? surely not steel

I've switched from Cleveland to Adams last season and there is a massive difference in launch angle.......and distance BOOOOOOM !!!!!

50g golf shafts are so light, they are extremely light, its not surprising there is a performance difference, personally i cannot swing them they feel way too light, but must work for some

I would agree with all the comments on the shaft being the main factor.

I have the TM R11s and have a regular Aldida RIP shaft and a stiff shaft that I use occasionally (mostly when my driving is pants and I need a change)

the difference is significant - both in weight and launch angle. Needless to say it doesn't cure a bad swing but it feels like I am doing something at least

I simply change my set up to have weight 60/40 on the right hand side and trying to stay behind the ball at impact. Massively improved trajectory and carry. It would increase distance too if they weren't plugging or stopping on the first bounce
