I was playing in a competition today and was informed that the use of a fifty pence piece, twenty pence piece or a tee, are not allowed as markers.

Now this is news to me as I must have erred many times over the years with my usage of said coins and tee.

The fact that the two coins are not round appears to be the problem and the tee ???

Please help me out before I receive a penalty for incorrect marking.

Poppycock. Pretty sure Brian Barnes once used a can of beer. In pro events it has to be a disc but you can use a coin without a problem. Whoever told you differently is talking out of their derriere

Whenever someone tells you that you're wrong, ask them to show you the rule. You'll be surprised how often they can't.

Edited to ask, was it a 'condition of competition'?

No breach - Decision 20-1/16 helps on this

Thanks so much folks

I now have a charity donation due from my playing partner and in fairness he was so adamant that I may have to force the cash into the box but I now have written confirmation, due to you knowledgeable lot!

Thanks again.
