I assumed the answer was no, but i can not find the specific rule on my Q, so now i am doubting it!

Can a non member (ie a guest) mark your card for handicap purposes, either supplementary, weekly stableford etc?
 
Can remember the exact term but it's usually something like a person that it is acceptable to the committee .... which is usually another member but doesn't have to be.

Will try and find the exact text that I read ....

Thats what i found, so would it be a Q to my handicap sec, or is it a straight no as i assumed?
 
Here it is ....

"Having satisfied the requirements for membership of a Club, CONGU® requires that to get a handicap a player must submit cards from 54 holes of golf, marked by a person approved by the Club."

When I first obtained my handicap at Dummer I asked and they were happy for me use a friend (member at Hayling Island at the time) .... never really thought much of it at the time.

Thats to get a handicap though, what about if you have one and want to stick a supp in??

Entirely up to the club committee.
 
Hijacking this thread but my question is kinda related, sorry rooter. Can one enter as many supp cards as they wish? So any time I play a game with Chris, my old man or any other member I could put the card in for handicap purposes or is a limit to the cards that be submitted. I only ask as Im playing well but theres no Q comp yet so could possibly drop a shot if I put some cards in over the next three weeks or so?

As BT said. If there have been no QRs at your course, it may be that the full measured course is not available. If that was the case, then Supplementaries could not be played either - worth checking.

I assume that it's just not our main season yet so no Q comps. Last comp was only the 5 club. White tees went back out this weeked just gone and first Q comp is 20th April, then a couple more weeks into May when the season gets going. Can't wait!!
 
Can i also ask, if me and my friend are both members of the club, but neither of us have a handicap yet - can we mark each others cards or do we need someone with an active handicap to mark them first?
 
As it's 'someone acceptable to the committee' it might be ok for 2 without handicaps, but i doubt it.

And 'Active' handicap means something I din't think you were intending to refer to - as opposed to 'Inactive' handicap vs Club handicap. I should think anyone with a Club handicap, whether Active of Inactive, would be acceptable. But best to check with the Club - though Pro might know.

Cheers you are right i thought active meant club handicap :)
