Just turned on golf and I confess that I cannot stand Mark Roe's commentary but first thing I heard him say today was " right from the get go"

What the the hell is that about?

What phrases get your goat?

:mmm:

Evolution of language, my friend :-)

Don't mind people who sit on the fence. If you do then your should be able to see both sides of it. However once you have seen both sides you need to make a stance. Sit on the fence too long and you will have splinters in yer ass.

With you on this one chrisd, not a fan of it. Guessing it started off in a corporate USA marketing department.

Don't like "winningest" either.

Just to be mischievous, not keen on "get your goat".

'right from the get go' is gibberish - a set of words that only make some sense if you know what the phrase is about - but still gibberish coming from a grown man - leave 'urban' language to the young. Just say 'right from the start' or right form the beginning' - not some *******isation of 'getting going'.

Not a fan of "he can really golf his ball".

Heard this cracker on the course:
Golfer A hits a great shot to 10 feet.
Golfer B "I'm choking to get inside you".

Ooer haha.

btw - really cheeses me off when forum spell checkers looking for swearies can't distinguish when a word is used in an appropriate context that makes it the correct word to use and in no way a swearie.

I agree. I had to edit a post recently, as it edited the word "mis-hits" because I didn't use a hyphen! Ridiculous! What happens when someone wants to find a golf course near Scunthorpe? Let's see...

Back to the OP, I hate it when people say, "in my personal opinion...". If it's your opinion, then it can be nothing other than personal! Same is true of "I, personally...". Nonsense!

Scunthorpe works, which is interesting. Its own council had problems with its "swearchecker", as it contains a severe word. They received no emails for a week!

Even more so when spoken by someone of the age of Roe! "From the start" will do surely!

The Yank that says in the hole on a par 5 , hate that dumb remark , but the worse is the people on telly that keep saying , .......YOU KNOW over and over again , i do not like that , its poor way to speak and if i knew why wait and ask them only to get you know ......................EYG
