Evening all

I brought some new irons just after christmas last year pulled one out the bag this morning and noticed the chrome coating had started flaking off on the sole of my 7 iron. Is this something that would be covered by the manufacturers warranty?

Doubt it but its worth a try.

6 month old irons and the chrome is "flaking" off....
I'd be on the doorstep demanding action.
I had forged clubs that I used 3-4 times a week for 18 months and there was barely a mark on the soles.
Irons are designed to be hit into the ground, they have to be durable enough to withstand that for at least a year if not more.
This is nothing like normal wear and tear......

I must try that out on tyre manufacturers.

This cracked me up! Haha

I agree with Imurg though, this does sound like a lot worse than 'normal wear and tear'.

Mine have normal wear and tear, a few scratches where i've had to play out of the minefields or rockeries, certainly no rust or flaking though.

Direct golf have sent the irons back to cobra and agreed with me that the coating shouldn't flake off there! Hopefully it will be a quick turn around
