Manners

I wouldn't like to judge the person based on one incident.

You have a young lad who may well have been pushing trolleys for hours that day, and who pushes trolleys for hours every day he works. Would I judge him harshly if he didn't say thankyou every single time people moved to the side when he was coming past? Probably not. Those Tesco car parks can get busy, you could end up saying thankyou every 5 seconds. I'd imagine in a job such as this, you just end up going on auto-pilot for all common scenarios you face.

I'm pretty sure they come across many rude and nasty customers, and most customers probably say nothing to them at all, treat the Tesco workers as being invisible. Or people judging them because they fail to say thankyou :ROFLMAO: . So, I could understand it if, after a certain amount of time working there, they just sort of put their head down and do their job. Not worry about being a spokesperson for Tesco.

I'd probably judge them more harshly if they just started ramming customers out of the way as they transport the trolleys, or yelling abuse.
