Going to the Cup game at Old Trafford, and looking for some advice on where to park. Coming up from down south, so preferably somewhere esay to get to and get away from. Game kicks off at 12.30 on Saturday januray 7th. Don't mind a bit of a walk, and convenience more of a factor than cost.

Any help gratefully received.

Don't go in any of the little private car parks, especially early as you'll be blocked in for ages as they ram everything in they can and the car in front blocking you in will always be some bloody slow coach!

I park right down by the Gorse Pub, sometimes at the back of it and sometimes right in front of it if early enough, it's right on the main drag and then just walk up, always got away easily afterwards.

Could it be better to park and travel in on the tram line? I think Altrincham has a decent sized car park but perhaps check the tram website for their advice regarding car parks next to tram stops.

This thread does nothng to dispel the myth that rag fans come from darn south. :whoo:No advice to give but enjoy the salford hospitality. Second only to Manchester hospitality.

I would have thought a man of your standing would have got the game to come to you

Always used to park near the cricket ground and walk across (5/10 mins max). (Talbot Road). Not as busy as the ones nearer the ground. Tram is also an option, but it gets silly rammed.... other option is by PC World a little further out if it's still there on the A56...

There is a park and ride for the tram less than half a mile from junction 2 of the M602, the tram goes pretty close to the football ground.
There are also a lot of controlled parking places in Trafford Park, charging various prices depending on how close to the ground they are.

There you go Richard, stay here night before, leave car in hotel car park then stroll over to game when ready! :)

But it's full of Norwegians and people with Cornish & Devon accents, with a scattering of Irish 😜

But it doesn't matter who else is staying there - it's a means to an end - watching his team get a thrashing! :ears:

Used to park by the cricket ground or Salford quays and walk the 10 mins, but not sure if they are still open to day tripping fans or not now.

You'll pass as a local with your barnet though rich, so dont worry about someone asking you the time.;)
