Evening all

From early April for a couple of months i`ll be doing some training for work in and around the Manchester/Stockport area. I`m just wondering are they any 9 hole golf courses or 18 hole courses which allow 9 holes to be played, so i can waste a bit of the evening away before i crash down in an hotel.

Cheers

Theres a hell of a lot of courses around the South Manchester and Stockport area but I can only think of 1 - 9 holer- Gatley.
I'm sure some of them would allow you on for a reasonable twilight rate or maybe just a 9 hole fee. To be fair they're all a decent standard too. Fill your Boots.. Locally you've got

Northenden
Withington.
Didsbury
Reddish Vale
Stockport
Bramhall
Hazel Grove
Heaton Moor
Bramhall Park
Gatley - 9 holes.
Marple
Davenport
Houldsworth
Romiley
Mellor and Townscliffe
Cheadle (possibly 9 Holes)

Lowes Park in Bury is a 9 hole track. Pretty decent course with a couple of nice par 3's.

Only £10 a round and you can go round as many times as you want.

I have to be honest. I only clicked on this thread because of the title. I genuinely didn't know that golf was played in the Manchester area

I stand corrected, but I still wouldn't leave my jacket in an unlocked locker LOL

Wow, all those Golf Clubs and you left out possibly the best of the "Mersey" clubs, Sale, how very dare you!:D
Also Hale GC is 9 holer if that`s what floats your boat.
And Chorlton you left out!

I've probably missed quite a few off tbh. Is there another Area in England with as many Courses as per sq mile as Gtr Manchester. I'd be surprised if there is. I'd guess Lancs has the most per county.
Anyway..I thought Sale Classed itself as Cheshire Nowadays ;)

There's a little par 3 at Heaton moor I think it is and I found it surprisingly well maintained, nothing much in excess of 100 yards but perfect to walk with a edge and a putter in hand. Or 3 wedges. Whatever :)

One thing I did find was the holes were the size of saucers and made me putt even worse than normal. Perverse but true!

Two 9 holers just a little further around the M60. Ashton on Mersey, and Flixton. Ashton has a few holes that run together that tend to make it a bit of a bomb alley. Flixton used to be the longest 9 holer in England, and has some cracking holes.

I think the par 3 curls is referring to is the one at Burnage Rugby Club. Until recently I was a member at Heaton Moor in Stockport and they'll let you play 9 holes no problem (the front 9 is better than the back 9 anyway).

Yes, the Wirral - 12 courses on it has the highest concentration in the UK.

And they're quality courses, not like that ramshackle list you put together. :D

Karl - top riposte.

I'm a member at Heaton Moor Steve how long ago were you a member?

And you missed off Heaton Park.

Hells Golf course ! I watched someone hit eight golf balls in to a ravine there in an attempt to reach the green on the other side one sunny afternoon.

Such Fun !!!
