Manchester Golf Show

Was thinking about going today, then decided that the 'tics vs Blackpool, with pre and post match drinkies was a better way to spend the day.. Is there anything there worth visiting? I've no need for any clubs (), I'm not looking for a golf holiday, and I've never wanted lessons (needed - Yes, but wanted - No.)... Let me know how it goes...

If it's much the same idea as the Scottish one then it should kill an hour or two.

Plenty of group lessons, competitions, simulators (nearest the pin), long putt etc. All the top manufacturers, golf hotels etc will have stalls too. You should be able to pick up some half decent bargains.

These shows all tend to be very similar. Large crowds queueing to try stuff and lots of stalls selling not much. I'm not fan. There was a show at Stoke Park with demos etc spread throughout the day and in different areas which was much more interesting and enjoyable. Can't remember who put it on but hoping there may be a repeat this year

Yeah went today, couple of things really only interested me, Game Golf the GPS stats thing. Very comprehensive well thought out piece of kit and would seriously consider it. Think it would benefit Pro's teaching with it with playing lessons.
The other was Kenny Giannini Putters, very nice and especially one of the models that just looks great and feels great and very soft off the face. Unfortunately no distributor here in the UK as yet but when they do I'm after getting one.

Oh and check out Biion golf shoes, very bizzare.

Just got back, pretty decent little event.

Holed the long putt competition so in with a chance of winning some monarch flights to some random destination.

Hit a few drivers as well, didn't really like the Cobra Bio, but the Nike covert 2.0 was really nice, might have to give one a hit on a range. Swing speed was 90-92 so he said I was in between a stiff shaft and a regular, but the stiff shaft with 11.5 degree's and draw setting felt really nice when I middled it.
Wanting to try and "loft up" but there was a long wait at the taylormade stand.

Entered the long drive competition where I had to outdrive Bruce Forsyth who apparently hits 210 yard. Used a GC2 and the hole was the 3rd on the brabazon. First 2 were horrible cuts off the fairway (had to be on the fairway to count) but the 3rd was a nice 230 yard straight drive, so hopefully could be winning something there as well.

Some good bargains as well in the shop, but i agree with 3565, the Kenny Giannini putters are so nice. Tried the G-3 (slimeline II) and fell in love. Was going to treat myself to a scotty newport 2 select, but could be looking to get one of these instead.

Just back and the show a bit bobbins, not a patch on last years show!

Did however get a fitting from mizuno after trying out some ping's and x2's and end up buying some new sticks for a good price :) so not all bad

Yeah, it was a bit crap reallyreally. I may be bias as I drew Lee Westwood in the long drive comp. There was a lot of rubbish stalls and queues for anything involving hitting a golf ball. It was funny trying to be convinced that a bracelet can cure my golf swing by the biggestbiggest con artists ever. One even had a delboy coat on.

I really wanted to try the loft up challenge but again, there was a long wait.

The best part for me was chatting to the two gents from Brookdale golf club, its a club only a mike from my house and they may have swayed me into joining it pretty soon. Its recently appointed a new female pro and is trying to promote the club much more. Its only a short track but a stern test as its pretty tight and all review seem positive. I'm expecting a call this week to arrange a round and can't wait.

Fixed that for you, Brownie.:whoo:

Cheers LB hopefully we wont need to give those Europa lge tickets away, im sure giggsyhas been asvised 7th is far better lucarative US tour is far more important!

As for the show was a decent little event although i not sure i would of been happy paying the £15 walk up fee.
The junior golf section were excellent and have got the 4 year old lad convinced he wants to carry on trying golf :)

Gamegolf stage was well worth visiting and looks a great bit of kit.

Brookdale certainly has some nice holes on it.
