Hi all

Is there any limitation to making marks/lines on a golf ball prior to starting a round?

I play with a blade putter with no alignment aid and so make three parallel lines on the golf ball to aid alignment

Any issues with this before I play in a club comp for the first time and make an ar5e of myself?

Ian

I don't bother with marking line, but I do draw a couple of chillis on mine and I have known the odd person to write 'KNOB' on a players ball when the group behind hits one into he group in front.

No problem at all. It can be your way of identifying that say your Srixon 3 is not the Srixon 3 that someone else is playing or had lost etc.

I'm sure there was one American Tour Player a while ago who used to have his ball covered in marks, slogans and drawings. More stuff on there than ball's clear surface.

Duffy Waldorf used to let his kids draw on his before he played :)

I thought it was him but wasn't 100 % sure. I always thought that all that clutter on there would've put me off if I was playing a ball marked like his - but didn't seem to bother him much. Mind he's a little better than me ...

Slasher could be screwed if they bring in any restrictions :o

mine have started to get a bit like it, last time I played my description on the first tee (yes paddy i like to declare my ball) was Taylormade TPx 3 with FUNDY written on the side, red circle round the number, black line and assorted green crosses all over :)
