I sport a beard at the moment. I keep it short compared to the trend.
I haven't been "clean shaven" for about 6-7 years. I have always had stubble, but I decided to grow it out a bit more about 2 years ago. Then started to notice a lot more doing it. I have always kept my hair short too, so I probably fall into murph's group......

the long bearded ones with the short back & sides & pompadour style hair cuts yes, (uncomfortably) skinny jeans etc etc

We've hit peak beard with the lumbersexual. But don't fret! Soon, their beards will be long enough to get tangled up in the wheels of their fixie bikes and we'll see their demise when they faceplant themselves into the tarmac. Probably when they're on the way to a pop up art gallery, where their friend Quentin is exhibiting his latest display of craft gin in jam jars painted with semen and herbal tea infusions.

Too many folks have them now, so no way can they be cool.
Cool means your ahead of the curve, not part of the pack....a 'face' as opposed to a 'number' or indeed a 'ticket'......unless cool has changed from the time when it actually mattered to me.
Pissed me off no end last winter (my traditional having a beard time of the year), folk looking at me thinking look at that git trying to be cool n trendy!

I tend to get really dry skin especially in winter which is why I stopped shaving more than twice a week. Never had any issues from work so plan to carry on. I've been fashionably unfashionable ever since my new romantic days
