Is this just a waste of time?

There is a game golf (twice used) up for £130 with a buy it now or make an offer. I more in hope than expectancy offered 110, then 115 and finally 120. All rejected. They sent a counter offer of £129!

Whats the point?? :sbox:

Sounds like the person doesn't know how to use eBay. How annoying. I hope they are getting bombarded with offers. I bought a set of coilover suspension for my car that was advertised as £300 quid or offer. I offered £125 hahaha and they accepted it. So you win some and lose some.

Sounds like they mistakenly put best offer on. I have just updated my app and found it defaults to include best offer.
Agree though if your going to put it on be prepared to accept a reduced bid. Some do saved £50 last week.

I saw the bloke posting on a few clubs for sale pages, didn't seem the brightest. Ebay listing has FREE SHIPPING in the title, then he charges £3 for shipping......

You can get a new one for £131 posted anyway, so i'd just do that!

Bought a pro Canon camera lens a while back, for a lot less than over the counter prices, thought I was getting diddled, but when it arrived, it was genuine, still got it still produces tack sharp images.

I have a set of shafts on there just now- just shifting them as opposed to being in cupboard, stuck on for £39 for quick sale or nearest offer. toe rags offering a tenner etc wasting everyones time, so stuck them back on at £30 buy it now

I suppose there are many who just offer stupid amounts to get a bargain then resell. and others who say make an offer but they have no intention of lowering the price, lots of PGA pro ebay accounts do this I've found

There was a golf bag on today i thought was good and reasonably priced at £50 but it had make an offer on it. That tells me they are open to offers so why pay the asking price. Anyway i offered £40 to test water and had a counter offer £45. Jobs a goodun and i saved a fiver on the asking price :)

I get the other end of the spectrum.

I had am Odyssey putter on there about 2 weeks ago.

I had it on at £60 buy it now, with the make offer function.

I then get some chancer offering me half, quite literally, of the price I was asking. £10-£15 I could understand, but not half.

Decline.

you get it with everything,

Somone sent me a message 2 days before my auction ended on my bafflers.

He asked if i'd do £40 posted. They sold for over 100 quid plus £13 postage.

some peeps, especially if they are new to the bay, might get a bit concerned if nobody is bidding or watching their item after a couple of days.
Therefore they think that its going to be a no sale. Then some chancer comes up and offers a silly price, there is a reasonable chance that they will take it as its better than nothing and whats the point in relisting, if its not going to sell anyway.

Those in the know, understand that whilst there is often some initial action, most stuff happens at the very end of the auction, so its often worth hanging on.

The important thing is not to be too greedy, if an offer is reasonable, accept it
