Wondered if anyone on here has ever entered and actually won a big golf prize?

Having won some good Nike balls recently from GM for course reviews, ta very much GM, I thought I'd see if my competition luck will hold so I've entered all the comps on this website, other golf mag websites and the odd general comp website like Loquoax too.

Some long days over the Xmas hols you understand!

There are a lot of great prizes out there and the odds have to be way better than the lottery. Your punishment for this is a fair increase in spam email but we all live with that anyway.

Who's won anything big (golf related stuff only) and was the deal as good as promised or did 'small print details' render the prize next to useless?

Whilst never having had the luck myself I did know someone who one a competition in that gaurdian of kaleyard literature The Sunday Post in the mid 1990s.

He won a set of Tommy Armour clubs in one of their many competitions. He went to their "factory" an industrial unit in Livingston and was fitted for a set of irons. He watched them being prepared and left with the shiny new weapons on the back seat of his car !

Never won anything myself or known anyone to win anything since!

only ever won a golf jumper and polo shirt in a comp'.
Was Lyle+Scott, though it appears the cheaper end of their market as the jumper wore out very quickly :D.

Nothing 'big' or life changing (yet).

John.

I also enter most of the GM competitions, and for completing the 2008 golf survey last year i won a Ping G10 driver :D
Had always been reluctant to enter them before, beleiving them to be nothing more than a spamming scam ,but that win wetted my appetite and i do enter more now.

Kinda, I was one of the reader test panel and got an ace Galvin Green Gore Text jacket.

Apart from that I aint won anything.

As above I was chosen to test a the new Yonex putter and got to keep that.

I didnt put it in the bag as I had planned so I lent it to another forumer for the winter.

Apart from that, Nothing, nil, nout, not a been.

Still try though!

I enter them all. yet to win except a dozen Nikes in the GM review thing but.......

I think it was Parmo - won a GPS in a web thingy compy before Xmas.

Have won some Nike balls (two lots!!) in the GM review competition but that is it. Not been chosen for any reader panels or won any prizes in GM or lesser golf magazine competitions but I do try all of them each month just in case

I must be dreaming, after 35 years of entering magazine cometitions I've won something at long last.

Thank you Golf Monthly.

Won the GPS unit last month, the guys felt sorry for me so chucked in a cover and sat nat card!! also tested a Yes! Tiffany and for blogs in the past Titleist 906f 5 wood, Hippo hex and a mix of 12 balls, not too bad for 18 months of playing ;)

DCB top man.

Parmo - you do seem to have a charmed GM life with all that gear. Still I can't complain with the amount I managed to get published on the forum and the magazine and being duly rewarded and winning 2 dozen Nike balls recently.

My advice to forum members is get involved. You can't win if you don't enter.

Deffo homer, the noobs should get involved and you never know. I was cheeky regarding some of my kit, but whilst bored at work just enter all the comps I find and you never know, someone has got to win, that said I just couldnt get myself together for last months.

In fact I can not remember what the hex was for :D

I'm pretty sure the forum is only going to get bigger and better and that in time more and more people will get the opportunity to get involved with the mag. However you can only do that by making the initial efforts when requests for testing and product reviews are posted either on here or via the mag
