mad scores

be nice to me still relatively new to the forum but thought i would share my experience started playing approx 18 months ago and came down from 28 to 24 relatively quickly. I entered the monthly stapleford and was walking down the 18th having scored 48 points but being new did not really understand what i had done. When i finished i ended up with 49 points and spent a good deal of the next few weeks through lots and lots of comments from members learning very quickly what the word bandit really meant!! :o :o

I'd say that usually a nett 66-68 at my place or 39-40 points will win most times. There must have been something in the water at the medal on Sunday as Division 1 was won off 12 with a nett 64 or gross six over. The guy holes in one at the first and was level par through 14. Division two was won off 25 with a nett 62.

I think every course will get the odd mad score in as every dog will have its day and to some degree it shouldn't make any difference how long or short it is as the CSS should take care of that.

I don't think 42/43 is unreasonable, I know I'm capable of shooting that on occasion if I have a good day. It's only a h'cap issue if the same player does it every week.

However, as has been said there are a lot of players who have high h'caps because they can't handle the pressure with a card in their hand so scores in your weekly roll-ups etc can be artificially high.

Even assuming par and css are the same, 46pts is only 10 better than handicap.

A lot of people will think I'm deluded but I think I'm capable of that.

If you have 100 people in a comp it's odd-on that a few will play a blinder, 1 or 2 maybe really good.

Like Hawkeye said above, as long as it's not the same person or people every few weeks.
