Apologies if this has been posted, but noticed in an edition of Bunkered that there is a proposal to install 126 windmills directly off the coast of the golf course.

As you would guess, the golf course/local residents arent too happy with it's siting, so would it stop you playing the course or reduce your enjoyment or does it make no difference?

Personally, I can see the argument for moving them further south out of sight, but I like the look of these farms, very hypnotic imo.

I would travel to play Machrihanish if they built the Worlds biggest sewage treatment plant right beside the first tee as it is simply a magnificent golf course in a stunning location.

As for windfarms, they don't really bother me at all. Lets face it, in Scotland 80% of the time we will be playing in drizzle, rain or misty fog and they wont be visible, even 100 yards from shore!

Sorry, didn't mean to be cryptic at all.

I have a friend who is an environmental scientist, and apparently these things are terrible for the environment in so many ways (ironic really), but one of the worse effects is that they are the biggest cause of death for bats.

Apparently, not just through the obvious way of collision, but also these things affect the air pressure around them, which causes the bats insides to explode.

After playing there in april this year if they put these up they will be switched off most of the time as its so windy there most of the time.

The ironic thing about windmills are the fact that they have to be turned off if it gets too windy (not sure of exact speed)

As far as playing there I would still go.
