I see Luke has now switched to the R1, from his previous RBZ driver - but has kept the mizzy headcover :)

Find it particularily interesting as he's only using what he believes is best for him rather than being under any pressure to use the 'latest' as the TM supported players obviously are.

Anyone know when he switched?

Not sure when he switched but he definitely looked like he had the RBZ a couple of weeks ago.

On a semi-related note, Sergio looks like he's gone from the R1 to the RBZ II which is a bit of a strange one as the TM guys we met at Wentworth said that the pro take up on the RBZ II wasn't intended to be that high.

I'm sure i saw somewhere that Luke only has a X, number of clubs, bag and hat deal with mizuno and still gets paid by TM for the driver as such.

interesting Patrick; can't help feeling they won't be paying him a lot when he doesn't use their headcover! Mind you at least he doesn't paint it black (like Phil M with his RBZ 3 wood last year!)

I see your's has already got you down to 7.2 - told you :)

Yup, I love mine! Although truth be told I've been hitting a LOT of 3 woods recently as my course isn't particularly long.

A lot are like this. I suspect others will confirm but I think Luke just has an iron, wedge and bag deal with Mizuno. I'm not sure he uses the new ball?

Interestingly, the TM guys told us that there's not a lot of people that get paid to use their gear. It was something silly low like less than 20%. The rest just get it free - which I suppose isn't all that bad!

I am sure that I read that Luke Donald is contracted to play Mizuno irons and wedges. When it comes to drivers and fairways he can use what he wants, but must put can't have that makers headcover on it. It is a bit like when we was chatting to the PING lads last week. They said that their contracted players have to have a minimum of 11 PING clubs in their bag at any time.

I think it's interesting to see what these guys have in the bag when they aren't on a full contract with a specific manufacturer. I assume they have access to all the clubs available so they have a free reign and yet many seem to be favouring TM

I think that nike driver of rorys should be called the Nike co-ncave, because he just seems to be caving in under any slight bit of pressure.

Fingers crossed for Luke, watched him beat Westwood a couple of years ago. Epic stuff

TM are known to pay tee up money for driver only. Its part of their no.1 driver on tour schtick. Anyone who has a deal that allows them to choose any driver plays taylormade because its extra endorsement cash in the pocket.
I wouldn't read anything into it in terms of the club's performance relative to its competitors.

That contradicts what was said earlier in the thread.
