At our par-3 15th hole my opponent hit a big pull-hook that left him in the semi-rough alongside the 14th fairway and behind a very large gorse bush. He opened up the face of a wedge to loft the ball over the gorse bush but instead thinned it straight along the ground, underneath the gorse. We initially thought it had stuck in all the undergrowth underneath the bush, but when I walked back to the green I found it just over the far edge of the green. From there he holed a 40 foot putt for a par. The same score as I got for hitting my tee shot to ten feet! There is no justice in this world!

My best par was on a 410 yard par 4. Hooked drive OB, three off the tee to 150, holes 8 iron for par.

Not going to be getting one like that again!

I once pulled/thinned an approach shot to our last hole. It was flying over the green, out of bounds, onto a road and away down a hill when it hit a road sign at the junction and bounced back in play. A chip and a putt later.......... My playing partner that day, it was just a friendly round, still shakes his head in bitterness as I halved that hole with him.

I've had two really ugly birdies like that (both on par 3s).

Downhill to amphitheatre green with banking all around.
Thinned shank off at 30 degrees, hit cart path to next tee, shot up in air, landed on bank behind green and rolled down to just under hole.
Sunk the putt for birdie.
Mr Mimms hit text book iron to middle of green , missed putt by a few inches and walked off with a very unhappy par.

Other one...

Thinned a wood over water, ball did a Barnes Wallis and bounced twice, and hopped onto green, then trundled up to 2 foot from hole.

My good shots never get me birdies!

MY PP drove our 10th green from 370 yds to about 6 foot. I shanked my iron for safety under a tree. Hacked it out and got up and down for Par. My PP 3 putted :-)

playing better ball at Muirfield the other day my mate hit a great 2nd shot to the middle of the 14th a 440 yard par 4. he was about 10 feet away. I scabbed my drive, got and very unlucky with my 2nd and bounced right over the green and ended up 30 yards over the back in the deep stuff. Lucky to find it, terrible lie, just had a hit and hope which made the green, but was as far away from the flag you could get and still be on the green. his birdie lipped out but was confident they would win the hole. I holed for a par and his face was a picture;)

There is little better than jammy par in matchplay.

Best one i saw was a friend who hit his second on 18 at North Downs onto the roof of the clubhouse where it proceeded to ricochet around before falling to rest on the concrete just behind the green. Needless to say that without a blush he got up and down from the path for the worst par I have ever witnessed (and somehow without destroying his 56 wedge!).

That hole just happens to have been one of my luckiest Pars too! Bunker (middle of 3) left off the tee; Bunker right for 2nd (always wondered why that one was there!) green-side bunker for 3 and holed out! Did similar thing (never playing from off grass) at Les Bordes in my 'Golden Book' round except had to have 1 putt!

I have had a lucky birdie and a lucky bogey

Middled a drive, shanked OB :O then stiffed the next shot to a foot! Two total opposite shots.

The birdie was a duffed drive then a middled hybrid to a foot. Distances back to front on that hole! Should be

I played with a lad who holed his provisional on a par 3, found his first (to be honest we found it, he didn't look) then he got up and down for a regulation par.
