What is the lowest stableford score you have seen to win a comp?

Got a call off my mate today announcing 'how did you win that with 35 points' I had walked off the course after dropping at least three points on the last two holes with a blob and a three foot putt missed for a 35 only to find out that I had won after count back. The weather was OK not too windy and just the odd scattered shower, maybe the course did play quite long as it was soggy with very little roll out on long tee shots.

Must say I am elated to have won my first ever comp :whoo: but would of been nice to have done that with a little cut too.

Are you quite sure you haven't been cut, because the CSS would have gone up, and hence the number of Stableford points needed to get a cut down? Handicap cuts are not always related to SSS. :)

Well done on the win.
Do you play on links or parkland?
How many do you get in your comps this time of year?

It is a bit of a cross links parkland on the Hill course, it is set a few miles from Norwich so not near the sea, but it is set-up to give a links flavor (that's what the description says on the website)

We had two entrants in the comp.............................................

No we had about 65 in the comp across two divisions and I won the second division.

Lowest ive seen win is a 30. Black tee comp at Concrawood. Looking forward to entering it with the irish craic classic in July. It is a challenge to say the least.

Lowest ive won with is 36.

I once won a walk on stableford at Moray old with 32 points..,

It pissed it down half way around and I mean rain of biblical proportions. You would not have gotten any wetter even if you had dived into the sea with all your cloths on. Got a phone call asking where I would like my prise sending a week later.. Mizuno your bag...
Most of the field NR d .., don't think there was a cut involved though ??!

23 points, 2nd place was 21 points

Wow what ever happened there, I have known 21 points to be tossed in the past
My worst score in the last 12 months was 23 points. My worst score ever was 11 points on a day when I was having a fit of the shanks! The worst score I know of for a player with a proper handicap was 6 points, although a beginner without a formal handicap (but playing off 28) only managed 1 point in a society day!

I once won with 33 points. Two of my playing partners had better scores but did not hand their cards in.
Very strange day, good conditions. Stablefords were generally won with over 40 points.
Around eight other cards of 33 handed in and I won after much debate. [better first 6 six holes I think]

On the same theme, 35 of our seniors started a Medal last October. It was windy and the heavens opened, There were 8 NRs, 14 did not return scorecards, the best score was nett 78 with the remainder 80+ and 3 in the 90s. Needless to say, CSS was 75 (RO).

This thread just goes to show. Always hand in your card.

One quwstion for doon though. If they had better than 33 points why did they not hand in?

Played in a society day off 32 at North Shore and it lashed it down from start to finish, I had 34 and won by 9 and only 4 quit during the round. I got some real grief from everyone.

Played Southerness a few years ago. All was well then the wind got up, the rain came in and the back 9 was horrendous. Annoying thing was that I had 18 after 9 and completely capitulated scoring 3 points in next 6 holes (then put my driver away) finishing with 25. I was only 3 behind the winner on 28.

I usually reckon that somebody will make a good score if there enough people playing in a comp, however horrendous the conditions. The worst winning scores I can think of are in the low 30's. :)
