Simple quick question

Does your club have a lowest gross prize in the monthly medals etc ?

We don't, but it would make sense and appease the whiny low handicap players who say, "I shot 4 under handicap and 1 under par and I didn't even place because of those bandit high handicappers who happen to shoot 6 under their handicap"

We play qualifiers to get into a final. The final will be a board comp. On the day, the finalists play for the trophy, the rest who haven't qualified play in a "subsidiary".

Prizes are typically:
Final: 1st - £200, 2nd - £100, B/G - £75, 3rd - £75, 4th - £50
Subsid: 1st - £120, 2nd - £75 B/G - £50, 3rd - £50, 4th - £30

Best Gross takes precedence over 3rd. Some people moan that the same few players "mop up" these prizes over the year (there are 6 main finals over the summer). Most are happy to see the best golf score on the day rewarded.

So it's "whiny" when someone is suggesting that possibly they should reward the player who played the best golf that day ?

Surely that's why we have different divisions

Prize pool is 40% of entry fees, the balance going to 'admin'.. Of this £15 is paid to the person with the best scratch score and the balance divided between divisions according to the number of entries.
