You remember that 1960's comic strip with the boy, the girl and a fair smattering of schmalzy sentiment e.g.

Well I love golf and would make a fair few sacrifices out of my love for this wonderful game. So ripping off Kim Grove's cartoon strip what is love (of golf) for you?

For me

Love is...

...being grateful that the glorious summer sunshine has been replaced by cold, wind and rain because my course is thirsty and needs a drink

I'm welling up with this thread......

Love (of golf) is.....

Being 2nd group out on a crisp spring morning, sun burning off the low lying mist. Looking up the 1st to see them disappear and leave only their footprints in the dew...

Off for a lay down, they're not tears ok...I've got hayfever :o :D

Inspired!!!!

Love is...

...spending countless winter evenings on the practice ground in the bitter cold using the light of two camping lanterns so you can improve your short game

(I'm naming no names, you know who you are ;) )

Love is.....

Putting up with all the grief, nagging & moaning that we get each and every week from the Mrs just so that we can spend time with the real love of our lives :D

Golf

Thought you were on a break Homer. Or have you had that wonderful making up moment? ;)

Still got a few fixtures to play in and then we'll see from there but chances are there will be a parting of the ways between my clubs and I

Got anything good homer?

Love is: getting up at 7am on a saturday looking outside seeing the rain and still getting dressed for golf.

Love is (or was) my par 5 after playing 3 off the tee this evening :-).

Have never hit a better shot than my 3 wood 4th to about 4 feet. There's a fair chance i never will again either!

Your mrs letting you build a putting green out the back garden. Surely that's a contender for the title?

Is the dog about to leave a loose impediment. Actually what would the rule be if there was a steamy dog hill left on your putting line?

Seriously though. That is cool. What is the surface?

A dog is not a burrowing animal. Play it as it lies!! :D

It's short astroturf. i get a really good roll on it and the speed is perfect. Used to be 20 feet long, but had to cut it back to 12 feet as she wanted room for the bins.

Fair bit of graft laying it, you need to lay a few inches of hardcore, then a few inches of sand, and roll it every now and then. Honestly shaved 3 shots off my game in the first month i had it.

I can spend 3 hours on it easy in the summer.

It's actually really easy to do if you have a wee bit of space and the time to do it.

And the dug knows there's no pedogree chum coming hos way if there's any loose impediments left on it!
