Had a shocking day on the greens today... missed 9 putts from within 10 feet, gutted. Still managed to shoot 8 over despite wasting 4 shots when I ploughed it into the trees going for a par 5 in two and couldn't get it out (silly me). Should have been a decent sub-par round. 33 putts in all although the holes looked the size of pinheads today :D

I feel your pain UK, after playing on slow bumpy greens in early season I played in the 1st County OOM event yesterday. Greens were slick & perfect, in the morning round I played beatifully from tee to green. Missed only 3 gir and shot a 78, with 6 three putts!!

Not sure whether to put it down to a bad day or go for a putting lesson this week??

PM round was much better as I only had 5 three putts!!

I'm having the same problem at the moment. Shot a 74 on Sunday with 37 putts. I 3 putted the first hole from 3 feet which set the tone for the day on the greens.

Question for Bob.....

Probably nothing to be done about this but, do you have any tips if you just can't get the pace of the greens on a certain day??

These greens were pretty slick and it started with one that raced 6ft past then was wary of speed and left return putt short!! Repeat ad infinitum :D

Can I join in regarding the putting woes?

One for Bob. Most of mine are an inch or two left. Assuming a flat green.

Shot 41 putts on Saturday! Best ever was 34. Average is 38.

41 pts is brilliant :)
Now try this.
Stand in front of a window or mirror and make your normal putting stroke as if you are hitting the ball towards the mirror.
Hold your finishing position at the end of the swing and look in the mirror. Where are your shoulders pointing?

As a 4 handicap, you shouldn't really be thinking too much of your technique.
Its really about controlling the lenth of your backswing and keeping a good tempo and feel.
Are you a wristy putter?

Technique is fairly decent Bob (not that it can't be improved) and I was hitting good putts untill the confidence went completely. I use the "line em up" line and they were rolling end over end nicely. It was a total lack lack of speed control, 6 ft past then over compensate and 6ft short. Fair few lip outs and burning the egde so lines were in the ball park too.

Any bad putts are usually an early peek and then fan the putter head open

Yep. Guess where. Left! So how do I stop my shoulders doing that? I tried keeping them square just now. It ain't easy!

Confidence is huge when putting.
Your swing hasn't fallen out of your ears overnight. it's still there. You may hit a spike mark, bump etc, it's not your fault.
Have faith in your stroke and keep the putter swinging.
You cant miss them all :D
Good luck mate

I wonder if Bobmac was on Dragons Den? I wouldn't mind betting that you would have wowed 'em Bobmac  :) :D :D

Golfmmad.

I'd love to go on Dragons Den and tell Deborah what's her name to stop pointing, its rude.
I know 2 of them play golf and it would be great for publicity to see Peter and Theo trying it out and loving it
