Hi Guys: Do you find where you play that lost clubs get turned in to the Pro Shop? I left two wedges (a new Mizuno and an older TM RAC) at #2 green at my home club. They were gone when I realized my mistake, and weeks later, they have not been turned in. Here's the real kicker: Both clubs clearly had my name, home town, and phone number on a shaft label. What's wrong with the world?

All the clubs I find are handed in at end of round, cant imagine not, but unfortunately in golf as in all walks all life there are those who will cheat & steal, fraid it sounds like you have one at your club (or an unscrupulous passer-by)

Almost everything found on the course is placed on a bench outside the changing rooms, its amazing what you see on their on a daily basis. I left a wedge TWICE out on the course and both times it was handed in.

I think you've been unlucky, either that or you need to move over here

;)

I've left the odd club lying around the course on a couple of occasions, and both times they were handed back in. One was a 7 iron the other was a 9.
But wedges??? Different matter. Wedges can be utilised into any set of clubs as many players use different wedges and subsequently they have a perceived "value". If they haven't been handed in yet, I reckon you can kiss them good-bye.

Don't like your chances of seeing those clubs again. I lost a MP30 PW a long time ago from the club car park.

Slightly sad reflection of the attitude of 'golfers' imo. I've handed everything I've picked up, that hasn't actually been discarded, in, including a nice Cleveland Sand Wedge that had probably been chucked when it failed to perform. It had been claimed the following day. At least, that's what the Steward told me! I did keep a Ping G10 head (with 6 inches of shaft) and cover I discovered in some trees a while ago though!:smirk:

Some people find clubs on the course and pick them up with the intention of handing them in when they finish. However, sometimes they forget and it's not until the next time they play, they see the club in the bag and then hand it in. And if they only play once a month, you may still get your clubs back.
Keep checking with the pro shop, you never know.

I had a strange one with this. Played 9 holes at the course where I have lessons and left my 7 iron out by a green. Wasn't really sure exactly where as I had played 1-6 and then 16 in. Still hadn't reappeared about 3 weeks and was starting to think the worse when the pro called and told me it had been found by the 9th green:D

On the OP i think the only hope is that it's an occasional golfer who forgot by the end they had picked it up and will realise next time they get there.

Edit as bob mac has posted in the meantime : great minds etc..

I had to wait for over 4 weeks for one of my clubs to be handed back in. Guy who found it got back to the clubhouse after it had shut and was flying out to America on holiday the following day. He forgot it when he got back until the next time he went out to play. So maybe all is not lost.

I think most golfers out there are a honest bunch. Our lost property box is rammed full of head covers putter covers, jackets and wedges. All get collected within a few weeks.

pretty sad when this happens, but unfortunately not everyone is made the same.

i wouldnt dream of keeping something like that and you have to hope its a genuine mistake and they havent played for a few weeks and just forgot

i lost a sky GPS once and was almost sick as when i walked back on the course the groups i spoke to hadnt seen it.

i got a call from the club to say it had been handed in and i left a few shandies at the bar for him.

also playing in spain i lost a wedge and wasnt handed in, two weeks later i got a parcel delivered by Fed ex and lo and behold was my wedge, not only that had a new grip on it and a note of apology from the club that it wasnt found before i headed home

so there is still hope

Our "lost property" box is overflowing, must be at least 10 wedges in there currently plus all the headcovers hats etc. Yesterday a playing partner lost his GPS on the course, the group who found it had worked out it was probably our groups and had come across a couple of holes to us to return it, before it had even been missed by its owner!

As in all things, most are decent, but theres always a few bad apples

ps: a tip for the future, when you chip greenside, put your wedge on the flag when it is removed from the hole, saves you leaving them lying around

We are fortunate at our club. I've known several cases of this , from clubs to putter headcovers and each time they have been handed in to the pro shop.

PNWokingham went straight to the pro shop after his round at Cooden to see if any of his 11 misplaced balls had been handed in.......alas non had..... However I think thats just a reflection of the type of player that was there that day.....

Where do you play?
And how on earth did you manage to leave 2 clubs on the course???

I recently lost a 52 Wedge on our par 3 course. Still no sign of it 3 weeks later so I think whoever found it has kept it.

I left it on the tee on our 5th and found 2 PW lying beside the 7th green, so it appears my 52 replaced 2 clubs :)

We get alot of casual golfers on the par 3 course and they dont have to walk past the clubhouse either, so not looking like I will see it again.

yep I do this now after forgetting to collect a few - saves time.

I always got them back though and have always handed anything found in myself. As with others the lost property box at out place is overflowing.

My only sin is keeping Pro-V's - found one the other day with "I love you" printed on it - clearly it didn't love the previous owner. Hopefully I won't get too attached as I am sure it will leave me also at some point!
