Lost childhood?? I think the Senior tour should start allowing 30 yr olds

I've no problem with children qualifying for these competitions. If you're good enough, you're old enough.. However, there should be some sort of embargo on the way the media handle the situation. It's the inevitable media circus that does the most damage...

Agreed entirely. I'm having a bit of a 'hate the media' day in general so could be a tad biased, but I could reel of a huge list of people in the public eye through either sports / film / music who you could say have gone off the rails pretty badly - potentially as a result of the massive pressures put on them by the media during their youth.

I'd happily swap.

I don't think Tiger would look back on his life and say it was rubbish. Must be so hard having $1BN :mmm:

I don't remember Tiger playing in the Masters at 14!! With regards to whether Tiger would change things, only he would know the answer to that I suppose. But his insistence on training with the US Marines does not suggest the happiest of lives..

It is the start of the things to come. The Far East have dominated the ladies tour for ages and no it seems that the men's production line is beginning to churn these players out. I think you'll start to see some older (well early twenties) coming along and being a real force maybe not in the Tiger mould but certainly a big name on the European and PGA tours

I'm afraid that if you give a million monkeys a million typewiters and show them what to do then one will create the first line of War and Peace.

That is a bit harsh..
All of us would want our kids to shoot +7 before their 12th birthday...but I would also like the kids not to burn out before their 15th birthday.. I rather see this than seeing 12-15 yr olds having kids

On another note.. a 9 year kid in India been driving his Dad's Ferrari (Lambo and Bentley)

At Swings it like Hogans club a former HGK's 9 year old daughter used to cut the greens with a Toro.

We have a couple of juniors at our place which, with all due respect to them, aren't gonna be playing in the Master's any time soon but that I've never seen without their fathers walking round with them - probably upwards of 50 times.

The youngest one is about 10/11 and I can sort of understand it to an extent, but it's not like the dad is there for companionship, he's trying to give coaching lessons every time the little lad hits a shot. I'm pretty sure he doesn't play himself and the lad looks permanently demoralised. It's as though he's looking at his kid to be his retirement fund, and I'm not the first one that's made that comment.

The other one is a little older, maybe 14/15 but again, never seen him there without the dad, including in junior competitions.

I made some of my best mates in golf as a junior playing stupid amounts of golf during the summer holidays. My game came on leaps and bounds from playing alongside and learning from juniors that were perhaps a bit better than me. IMO, It's sad that the kids aren't able to just go out and enjoy themselves. There's enough pressure trying to keep up with your mates, let alone trying to meet daddy's expectations.
