Hi,

im new to this forum but im looking for some advice/help. Ive not played golf for about 3 years due to work getting in the way but now im back to playing. Anyway ive never been the greatest driver and always struggled to find a driver that suits me, I currently have a taylormade R9 supertri that ive had since it was released, so I think about 5 years. Im currently looking to find a driver that's more forgiving and have looked at the Ping G30 SF which feels good, but I was wondering if anyone can advise me on whether the change is worth it?

Thanks in advance, Paul

I had a "Crews Tourlink D-460" which I could smash as straight as an arrow all day long but it broke so I replaced it with a "Tour Edge Bazooka" which I've had nothing but trouble with as sometimes I can hit it rite and other times I just can't, my point is that lessons aren't always the cure for everything, sometimes the club just doesn't suit !

As for suggesting a driver for you then I'm afraid you'll just have to take your pick as what might suit one person won't suit another, is there an option to try some demo's out ?...

Thanks for the replies!
I'm planning on a few lessons anyway but was wondering if anyone had experience with the G30 SF,I've tried it at the range and liked it but it's always different on the course and 'to live with' all the time!

Pretty much a newer version of the K15 (which I would buy again, before buying the SF).

I'm guessing you slice the ball (a common ball flight). Lessons wouldn't be a bad idea, but only if you can be bothered to practice! Otherwise, get a K15 or draw-based driver and swing hard left.

I have the Ping G30 SF

It's a nice driver, but it's not the solution, the fade/slice is still there

But if you're in the market for a new driver you could do a lot worse

I had a R9 supertri and I changed over last month to a G30 LS Tec.

I had a massive slice and the G30, although it hasn't completely cured my problems is so much better. My slice has gone from occurring 90% of the time to 10% of the time.

Do you hit the ball high? The supertri is designed to get the ball up, if you already hit high this will encourage a slice.

Have you tried the other G30s (LS Tec and standard)? You may not need a SF. The SF is basically an offset driver so as you improve you will find it draws and you may end up wanting to change again.

The G30 range against the R9 is just incredible. The size and shape gives confidence and generally it goes straight. Have a go with the standard and see how it compares to the SF. Then BUY BUY BUY!
