There are 3 holes in my golf course that are very tight and even if you hit the fairway in the wrong place your ball is unplayable, you mist hit the ball 200 yards to clear heavy heavy rough. what club would you guys use as a driver can get you in trouble if not hit perfectly? hybrid or 5 wood im not a fan of 3 wood off tee. I was even thinking of getting a 13.5 degree driver to use on them?

You seem to be worse than me for chopping and changing clubs. Wait til' you get to putters, then the fun starts.

As for your question, 200 yard carry to clear heavy rough, i'm going DRIVER all day long. But then this is the GM forum, so i'll probably just hit an easy 5 iron.

200 yards carry I would be looking at a 5 wood or 3 wood personally. Probably have to be a 3 wood to be sure of carrying the ball through the air 200 yards. Don't think a higher lofted Driver would make any difference.

the fun has already started with the putters already got a scotty del mar, newport, futura and a metal x 2 ball

13.5 degree driver? That's a 3 wood!!
Was max run out as 200 yard is a good carry even by forum standards. Sounds a 3 wood all
Over to me.

A very personal question in my opinion dependent on so many things, ability, conditions to name but a few. However I always hit the highest lofted club I can which will give me the best approach into the green which will give me the best chance of finding it, if that makes sense. 200 yds carry for me can range from 5 Iron in best conditions to a driver in the worst of conditions......

3W or driver depending on conditions, not sure I could carry 200yds with my 5W
seriously? Into a stiff wind it may be an ask but normally a 5 wood should be around 215-225yards with a regular swing speed... Or go mongrel and get rid of the Titleists and get hot face fairways :) ... I think your selling yourself short, I know I have not seen you play.

No, I'm being realistic. I can't consistently carry a 5W 200yds. In the real world, that is a long way for your average golfer to carry a 5W.

I'd have to go with driver... I'd have to get a good strike on other clubs to get 200 yards carry and so it's the only club where I'm sure I can make the length... And a tight fairway concentrates the mind so driver it would be. What makes it a tight fairway? If it's the same rough as short of the fairway then better 240 yards up in the rough than 180 in the rough.

3 wood or driver for me. I can hit a five wood two hundred yards but not consistently. We have a tricky hole - our 7th. Ditch at 235 yards and no merit for trying to carry it as landing area narrows. Tree left by the ditch and another right and it falls left to right. Too far left or right and you're blocked out. Too far back and you are hitting 200+ yards into the green

Agree with a few of the above, 3 wood all day long!
I know my 4 iron goes over 200 yards total but that includes carry so that rules that out.
Could I hit a 5wood 200 yards on the fly, if it was 13.5 degrees I could ;)

Serious question......what sort of members course has a 200 yard carry over heavy rough? Must be unplayable for the seniors
