Jacks record is a serious challenge for any golfer today, there are more tour pros today capable of putting a spanner in the works than there were in Jacks day, Tiger is capable and I hope he does it, but the injury could take its toll, we will have to see.
That Tiger will break Jack's record is I think inevitable as despite the knee, he has age and time on his side.
That there are more pros who could put a spanner in Tiger's works to prevent it - no so sure.
That any of the current crop could emulate either Tiger's or Jack's records - now there I agree that there may be too much talent around to allow it. but then that's what was said about Jack's record - and along came Tiger
I'm not sure which particular words you think I'll be eating shanker.
He probably will end up with the record for 'most majors'.
He still won't be the greatest golfer in my opinion.
Frankly, looking at these interviews and comments he's been making recently, I think the person he is trying to convince the most is himself. Sounds to me like he's trying to retain an air of mystique (his most potent weapon against opponents) and methinks he doth protest a tad too much.
Of course, as with all things knee-related (and believe me, I should know), time will tell us everything.
