I've been badgering my mates for weeks about doing it, but so far they're not biting.. it'd be a tough old slog, but a worthy cause and I'd love to do it.

Hi,

I did this two years ago and it rained basically all day! we changed it up a little and did 4 different rounds (both the Goodwood's and both the chichester courses).

It was a great experience despite being very wet, and we finished suprisingly early (it was no later than 7.30pm).

Personally i dont think it is as hard as you would probably expect, so much so we are discussing doing 5 rounds instead in 2014. The key was making sure that the golf course was aware of the challenge you were doing as they then informed other groups to let you through with no exceptions.

It also helped that we had someone following us in a buggy throughout the day providing us with dry clothing, drink and food etc.

Its a great cause, good luck to you

Homer, Pieman, HTL and I did it a few years back and Homer and I looking to do it again this year. It's not as tough as it sounds if you pick the right course (not too long or hilly). We started about 430, did two rounds straight, stopped for brunch for an hour then did the next two rounds. I think we finished just before 8.

I did something similar 20+ years ago when Esther Rantzen founded Childline. 4 different courses in the one day (Mitcham, Darenth Valley, High Elms and Cray Valley if I remember correctly). If you are doing it, make sure you've got a couple of changes of shoes and socks, keep hydrating yourself, snack regularly and the most important thing to do is not make the mistake that we did and all arrange to meet at a pub at 2 in the morning before setting off in the minibuses to the courses at about 3.30am..... Good luck to anyone taking part and fair play to anyone who completes it.

I played 4 different courses in 2005 (The Warwickshire, West Midlands, Ladbrook and Kenilworth) but for Make-a-Wish before the MacMillan think became popular.

The golfing side was straightforward, although getting out of the car at the fourth venue was a bit stiff, and I scored best on the 4th round which just shows what you can do if you keep a 7 iron in play rather than blast the driver. I would suggest a 36 hole warm up, lots of grazing, changes of clothes especially socks and no school boy errors in the shoe department.

Making a serious and worthwhile amount of money is more difficult and more rewarding and you can start by having partners with different contacts, from different clubs and getting concession access to the course(s)/

We raised £10,000 and I think my total was £4,500 so we were really chuffed. Set yourselves a target of raising more moeny each than you would earn on that day or you might as well go to work and throw the cash in - we used this as the motivator and happily blew it away.

ps our former pro did 10 (yes 10) in one day a few years back. I turned up at 8pm to watch and he had finished. He averaged 73 despite apparently not being able to see the course for the first 9 and threw in a 67 and 68 on the 6th and 7th rounds. Shame that dodgy putting ruled out a tour career. So 4 should be straightforward.

Any news on this year. Have the club got back to you as Ken's charity is Macmillan anyway

All,

Well I have signed up with 2 mates and my Brother In Law.....

As golfers Im sure you can appreciate how difficult this may be, especially this that have already taken part in previous years.

Therefore it would be appreciated if you could dig deep and donate what you can to help us, help Macmillan Cancer Support. (Don't forget to Gift Aid if you're a UK tax payer).
