Long (illegal) Golf Ball

Hi,
I recall, from years gone by, that there were illegal (joke) golf balls that travelled huge distances! Does anyone know if these are still on the market. I have searched but without any success this far.

Never hit one I'm afraid so can't comment on the potential par 5 greens you might end up driving.

They existed many years ago. Had one used against me by my golfing buddy (who was always 20-30yds behind me off the tee) who then smashed it 50 yds past me! :swing: claimed he had had a lesson from the pro - worked ok until I got a look at the ball.
Unfortunately he is no longer with us. Time moves on and a new partner desperately needs yardage in our weekly friendly four ball game.

Dunlop rebel is probably one of the easiest to pick up but there are many others.

Once used some call bandit and could not tell any difference in distance.
They were just hard.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I don't think the examples are the ball I was looking for. I recall they were a "joke" type ball and were advertised as such. They made so much difference in distance that they immediately caused comment and unbelievability!!! -they were more than just "non conforming". If I track them down I will report here.

I was the victim of a practical joke while playing snooker after a golf/ drinking day out .
My so called mates swapped the cue ball for one with a bias.
My opponent was in on the trick and knew to hit the ball hard to keep its line , but no not I.

Trying to hit the perfect weighted shot, only to watch it drift in all directions. Took a while and after blaming the table, it finally dawned on me DOH . I saw the funny side after a few seconds .:smirk:
