In a short space of time I've lost both my golf buddies and let my membership lapse at my old club. I'm now looking for a new club in the Poole/Bournemouth area and some new people to play with. Is anyone else in the same boat as me and fancies a round or two? Or any advice on a good local club to join with friendly members and a good competition calender.

If you don't mind travelling a bit come and have a round at New Forest. I'm probably a bit biased but you will be hard pushed to find a friendlier club. Roll ups every saturday and mens comp with a shotgun start every sunday morning, plus league matches and stuff midweek during the summer months.

I have a mate who lives down in Bournemouth who plays at Ashley wood GC. Seems to have quite an active membership.

When you say you have lost both your golf buddies, what has happened?

There are three lovely courses in the Bournemouth area which I have played, Parkstone, Broadstone and Ferndown, but I imagine you would need a few quid to join them. Remedy Oak is also in the area, but not my favourite, and you would need an even bigger budget !

Drive4Show is your man for the area though. He has played all the courses and should be able to point you in the right direction.

One has moved away and the other has back troubles. Ashley Wood looks great but probably a bit further out than i would like. I`ve thought about Knighton Heath or Canford Magna, any good?

I've played both Parkland and the Riverside. They were ok with some nice holes. Gets quite wet in the winter though I think due to the river.

Anything in particular? Poor greens/fairways? Course design? Variation of holes?

the greens can be ropey, the parkland is a decent test otherwise. The riverside is OK.

As a test of golf Knighton Heath is a better course, it's more of a traditional club than a golf centre. Take from that what you like, but I would be looking at Knighton Heath. Which is short, tight and with lovely greens.

Remedy Oak is OK but definitely not worth the money, I would doubt it's in the top 5 courses in the area.

If you fancy a round at Brokenhurst some time, drop me a PM

Played Dudsbury at the weekend and enjoyed the course so much i`ve joined. Thanks for the advice and if anyone fancies meeting up for a round let me know
