London Golf Show 2015

Never been to this event before and I'm not really looking to buy anything. Have people been before? Is it worth it as I'm not that far away.

Thanks.
Nick

I went last year Nick and I got a free ticket but I wouldn't have said, even for nothing, that it was worth the drive

Went a few years ago and it was naff. I must have posted my experience on here at least 3 times before. Only good part for me was I picked up a cheap wedge from the Wilson Staff bay at the end of the day. Wouldn't bother to go again.

I went to one at the NEC a bit ago and was not greatly impressed. Was expecting lots of manufacturers to have their wares on show, but there were mostly a lot of stalls selling golf holidays and a few training aids. Think there was an American Golf there (one possibly another one) but even then they didn't seem to have that many clubs you could look at.

You could get fitted I think if you booked in advance. But to be honest if I was getting fitted I would not really want to do it when the fitters are jam packed with appointments all day and you have 100s of people gawping at you.

Sorry to be another with negative feedback but it isn't that great. I went on freebie tickets but long queues, not that much to try without pre-booking or long waits and not that much stuff worth buying

Same as the other guys, went a couple of years ago and havnt been back, no will I go again, very busy, no deals, ad you ca buy the stuff cheaper online or from your pro.

Do they people who run these ever listen to feedback :o

Nope, i gave them a load last year and they didnt listen. Its not even in London! Last time i went, it was at earls court. was rubbish then and i can only assume its still as bad now. I only went as i had a free ticket and i was in london anyway. I almost wanted a refund!!

Earls Courts being re done hence blue water. I went for free last year, thank you GM. But I'd agree most of it was weak considering what it was being billed as.

1 - A lot of tourism ads
2 - Not a lot of demos - I was thinking it was going to be a lot of manufacturers letting us get sneak peeks and testing out new gear.
3 - Small, My brother and I completed a circuit of the attractions within 2 hours.

Wasn't peter finch and Rick Sheils supposed to be there coaching as well ? Just looked on the website and can't see them listed any more. I know they did the manchester version.

Also looks like GM are sponsoring, there logo is on the home page.

I know one of the guys that runs it...... and yes they do listen to feedback, but unfortunately the stalls selling holidays etc are the ones that pay most of the fees, so they cannot do without them.

Unfortunately the kind of stalls we'd all like to see/use that would make the event worth going to aren't ones that would make a lot of money.....after all, that's what they all go there for.

Bluewater is also a lot cheaper than central London for a bigger space, so its a no brainer.

Unless my Mrs wants to go shopping I wont be going to the show again this year, its just not worth it.

Honestly not heard a good word said about a single golf show like this.

I can understand what people want to see when they go to one of these events but I cannot see how that can be practical. Look at the example of testing out the latest gear. The first issue is space, how many bays can you actually have. You then have staffing. If everyone wants to try different clubs or different specs then you need to have one on one attention or maybe 2 or 3 on one at most. With most people then wanting probably 15 or 20 minutes at least then you realise that to avoid queues you would need acres of space, dozens of staff, dozens of demo clubs and more time thant there is in a day. Simply cannot easily be done and even then the cost would seem prohibitive for what you could get out of it.

A golf show like this will never be much more than holiday companies, timeshares, some clubs selling membership and then maybe one or two retail partners selling. Not for me and with the reputation they have, I am actually surprised that GM are still involved.

I have been twice, wouldn't make a special effort but it is still a good way to kill a couple of hours with golf related stuff. I did get a good deal on an Odyssey Putter though.

I am pretty sure that Rick and Pete are going to be there. I know a few people have booked lessons with them and the London Golf Show is still doing a promo giveaway with lessons as prizes as well (okay, I stand corrected ... they were yesterday... every mention of it seems to be gone from the page now .. that's odd).

I went last year and it was poor IMHO. The 5 free rounds of golf does make it more appealing though this year. It's only 40 mins from me and the Mrs can go shopping and it'll cost me lunch but I might go again. As long as free round don't have too many restrictions.

EDIT: Just seen that the golf is sponsored by Pentland. Therefore unless you're in Kent it might not be worth it. They run, Etchinghill, Boughton, Pedham Place and poss still Lydd. They are all P&P course of mediocre standard. The free golf would be for me as all the course are local but if you'll be traveling any distance it prob it isn't.
