Ive been to 3 courses recently that had lockers for Visitors where you stick £1 in.

At all 3 places Ive opened door after door only to find guys had just left their stuff in and not put a pound it.

I would say at Kingsbarnes at the weekend 80% of the lockers were like this.

I don't get it, after all you get the pound back:rolleyes:

cant get my head around that at all, a course near me has put new lockers in that you put your own pin code(4 digits) in when you shut the door yet under the benches and on top of the lockers are peoples shoes, coats etc

People are far too trusting, I noticed in the visitors locker room at Royal Lytham lots of expensive golf shoes lying around worth in excess of £100 a pair. Why stick temptation in the mind of a potential thief as people will steal regardless of what surroundings they are in.

Guess there is still a lot of trust around with golfers - not expecting anyone to rob from the locker room

Trust is an easy word to use, would you leave a handful of £20 notes lying in the locker room deliberately and expect it to be there when you get back?

No but then money just sat there is very temoting for people - some worn golf shoes - less so

I am very untrusting. It's just one of those things and while I get a tad complacent at my own club at times, I would never dream of leaving my myjoys or skycaddy or anything else of value lying around unattended. If I'm playing a GM meet and there are lockers available everything gets put in there for lunch, before we start and after

I used the golf shoes as an example, as Patrick highlighted he witnessed lockers full.

A thief is a thief and most aint fussy what they steal.

I expect most will keep the valubles with them

When visiting golf courses i dont lock anything away - have my shoe bag and change of clothes bag etc just under the bench normally

i wouldnt leave stuff about purely because its untidy and also if the club is going to kit the place out with nice free secure lockers then im gona use em!

Exactly. And why would you put stuff under the bench when it could easily be rummaged through while you were playing. The less opportunities a thief gets the less he'll try his luck anyway

Because if he wants to steal my boxers and soap then away he goes.

There will be nothing of value in the bag

Thankfully also i dont visit many clubs that are "rife with stealing incidents"

Jesus man, do you have to be so awkward, no one is talking or asking about what you do.

The point of the thread is why use a locker which is lockable and not lock it.

Maybe because they dont want too or they didnt have the change available.

I never really knew it could be such an issue

How do you know. Pretty sure they wouldn't advertise the fact on their website for visitors. Please come to XXXX but be aware we're in the throes of a theft epidemic. Thieves will take whatever they can get away with

Then i must be have been very lucky to have never had anything stolen from any golf club nor hear of anything whilst at anything golf club.

What? All of them? 80% of visitors lockers had stuff in them and were unlocked.

As normal, there is no point in discussing with you as you never see the other side of any coin.

Enjoy your night
