Just before christmas I bought myself a dozen Bridgestone 330s balls from my pro. She charges £9 a slieve and gave me 20% discount for buying a box. Total it was £28 - not bad for a premium ball in my eyes.
A week later (Jan sales) I see that AG have the same balls for £17.99 along with Nike ones on their special offers.

Next time I was in the pro shop I jokingly told them they ripped me off - I was infact happy to pay the £28 as the offer started after I bought my balls and they need to make a living, and charging going rate for balls is OK in my books. The junior pro told me she would tell the head pro, I told them not to worry and just left it.

Went into the pro shop today just to say hello and have a chat, head pro pulled out a slieve of balls and handed them to me. I told her not to worry but she told me that she would not be outdone by AG.

I could not believe this service, once again another big score for the local pro in my books.

Trying to bring an air of decorum back to the thread (how young is the assistant? ;)) it is great to see such service. As I have said on here before I always use my pro for jumpers, balls etc and would use him for clubs if he carried some demo models. As he doesn't I use AG for my clubs.

To be fair he does do me some top deals (SC 2.5 at £269 back in March - not sure it has dropped much below that since, Myjoys PODS for £110 - the plain RRP at £99.99).

I think it is great if you can support yout local pro wherever possible and develop a good relationship (keep it clean guys). I am confident that my pro will do me the absolute best he can on anything in the shop and has been known to chuck the odd glove or sleeve in with a decent purchase.

I gave up using my old club pro after I felt ripped off on some Benross clubs. Bought a Benross VeloCT driver and Pure Red putter for full price to find out shortly after that all Benross retailers at the time were allowed to offer the putter free with any driver purchase.

Since moving to my current club I am back to using my pro when I can but he simply does not stock the brands I like.

LOL Like.........

''Do you ever get to play with them.. ?''

*pulls up a chair*

Or you are playing with a lady member and she rolls her first putt up about 8" short and you say "I'll give you that one, I hear you like them that length"
That normally goes down well that does.
:D

Local pros are been killed by ebay and internet retailers, I will buy what I can from my pro but sadly that amounts to jumpers shirts and balls now and again. I do use his services for lessons though.

I buy practically every club from my pro but it isnt at my club its at a muni all the guys there are brilliant and get good service and as many demos as i want
