After reading the Hidden Gems thread, wonder if people could mention what Hidden Gems are in there area, could be useful for people come the summer.
For me in the North East I would recommend Wearside GC, just off the A19 near Sunderland, great course, superb condition last summer and always welcoming.

My club, Muckhart is described as a hidden gem by several sources including the Scotsman newspaper.
Peter Allis has a link to our club and I believe he designed our Arndean course and once namedropped us on BBC coverage of the Johnny Walker from Gleneagles some years ago as "a hidden gem of a wee course just in the foothills of the Ochils not too far from here celebrating a centenary called Muckhart". Very nice words.

We are certainly out of the way, off the beaten track and nestling in foothills well enough to classify as hidden anyway.

South Wales

Morriston Golf Club is a beauty in my honest opinion.

Morlais Castle

Glynneath Golf club

I know GM reviewed the Grove this month but I will never play that place again. Terrible customer service and a 6 hour round in a 3 ball and the complaint fobbed off.

Not in my area but I played Neath during a trip to South Wales last year and would highly recommend it. Stunning views on a James Braid designed hillside course with the friendliest members ever; I don't think a single person passed us without checking that we were enjoying ourselves and stopping for a pint afterwards:D

Locally to me Bingley St Ives its a great track, maybe not so much a hidden gem but maybe doesn't get the coverage locally. Mix of parkland and moorland, greens are always in great condition, couple of testing par 3's, heather comes into play after the 9/10th and the clubhouse and pro shop are decent too.

Don't know if they qualify as hidden gems as locally they are well known and very highly regarded but anyone playing Calcot Park near Reading or East Berks near Crowthorne will have a very enjoyable round of golf. Both well established traditional courses. Not long by today's standards but both offering a great all round test. Nothing tricked up. Calcot a Harry Colt design with good changes of elevation and tricky undulating greens. East Berks flatter, more healthland style where accuracy off the tee is essential.

There are more golf courses than you you can shake a stick at in the North West. Aside from the great links golf on offer, (open venues, Hillside, Formby, Wallasey etc) Of those I have played, I'd say Delemere , fairhaven and Manchester (Hopwood) jump out. I've not played Sandiway or Stockport GC , but I have heard nothing but great things about them both !!!

Surprised Qwerty hasn't mentioned Fleetwood.....
