Local Elections on Thursday 4th May

There's elections tomorrow, not seen any polling cards of bumph through the door, probably not one where I live. Though as someone mentioned above a chimp wearing a red rosette would win here, been a labour seat for over 30yrs now, don't see that changing.

They're not happening in every area. They've got lost in the general election chatter. I'm suspecting we will see a very low turnout.

My own area could be quite interesting as there are some genuine local problems that could usurp national issues.

Me finks there is gonna be one or two pigs with rosettes looking for other jobs tomorrow.

An Independent will get my vote tomorrow. That he is Scottish is neither here nor there.

An independant will get my vote tomorrow, don't think he is Scotish. He came round popping leaflets on Sunday. In essence I told him to bugger off as he has my vote and to spend time persuading other former pig rosette wearing voters to vote for him. 👍😁

For the first time in years I'm not going to vote. 6 candidates, none of whom I want to vote for, 4 of whom will be elected anyway. Just more hassle than it's worth I'm afraid.

If you don't vote, you can't complain about the politicians you get! 🙄

Equally if you do vote and the person you voted for loses, you should accept that as the democratic will of the people and not whine and winge about the result for the next hundred years ...........

Wait a minute ......

Don't start him off.

If you vote for someone who turns out to be a pillock, it's your fault.

Oh well, been out and voted, no easy excuse for me as it's the building next door to my office. Don't know any of them tbh but if you dont vote don't complain adage seems fair in these situations.
Used 6 of my available 8, unsure whether its more effective giving candidates whose party you dislike the last 2 voting positions or just a blank box no vote.

In this election, even if there was a candidate I liked three others will also be elected. It just doesn't seem very democratic. I'm torn because the party closest to me on the local issue that most concerns me is the tories but on other issues and at national level they are completely unpalatable.

Add in logistical issues for getting to the polling station and it just doesn't seem worth the trouble. But I've got my poll card so I'll play it by ear after work.

Ha, that was what I wrote about the Tories the other week. How can politics have got so bad that the Tories stand out above all others. 😟

I hope the weather is nice for people wanting to vote. We wouldn't want some bad weather to distort the results now would we

My crosses have been marked . I voted for a particular party that I have never voted for today. An earth shattering moment for me. All local issue related but still feels strange.

I must ask myself - do I actually understand what I am being asked to vote on.

I must remind myself that I am not being asked to vote for anything other than what my selected candidate has stated on his manifesto - and that no matter what he might have said to me in any discussion I have had with him before today - or what anyone else has said that he would do - I can only expect him to work towards delivering what his manifesto says.
