I am playing this course with a pal of mine in the Southern Matchplay. I know it has been an open qualifying course and I was wondering if any of you knowledgable lot have played there before and what is it like
Not played it but heard lots of good things about it, I'm sure you'll have a very enjoyable day out. Would be interested to hear your comments after you play it
Proper links course. Played it three years ago. In driving wind and rain. Very tough! From memory nine or so out, a couple across, then the rest all back. Very high quality test of golf.
It's a cracking course with a proper old fashioned club house. It hasn't got the massive dunes of some links courses and is relatively flat. It makes really good use of streams/ burns etc and the par 3's are really good.
It's better than princes but not as good as rcp or RSG.
The par 4/3/5 finish is top notch and can be brutal into the prevailing wind.
