Anyone played Liphook GC??

Managed to get in an open comp there towards the end of the month and wondered if anyone had played there and could share their opinion.

Their greens are reputedly the best in the area....real praise considering the quality of courses around that area!! :D

Doesn't Sam Hutsby come from there? I've heard it's a nice track but have no evidence to back this up. It's on my list of courses to play.

Mr Hutsby is indeed a member there - 2009 club champ (the week before he turned pro)
Liphook probably best known for it's really excellent greens. Whole course is very well conditioned, many holes lined with heather and pines. Very tough 200 plus yard par 3 in front of the clubhouse to open up with! Great lunch too. We rank it in the 60's in our Top 100 courses list
Be interested to hear how you get on in the comp and what you think of the course/club

Thanks Mike, looking forward to it, I'll write up a review after I'm done.

JustOne - How old are you mate & what's your h'cap (It's Cat 1 if i remember right?)
The reason I ask is that these are over 35s scratch opens and they are an absolute steal. £44 for 36 holes of golf with food all day thrown in!!! Don't mind if I do... :D

Lovely course, fast true greens. Not long but need to keep it on the fairways. Stuffy membership ! I am sure you will enjoy assuming you are not playing in the middle of course maintenance.

I play nearby at Blackmoor, which is on a par with Liphook, but much friendlier !

I played it in a previous life, as well as West Surrey, Hindhead, Old Thorns, Puttenham, etc.
All to die for.

Simples. :)

I have played there many times and it is a brilliant course.

I echo the above comments - very nice course, some excellent holes - a par 5 on the back 9 was really nice - maybe 14. Greens were very good. Overall, quite easy to score if you keep it in play
