Hopefully my GoKart should be delivered tomorrow, and will be put to use this weekend. Never used an electric trolley before, so should be interesting. Expecting some comments from the playing partners though, (I'm only 39).

Also got free sat nav software to try on the windows mobile as reported in another post.

Will let you know how I get on, as I haven't played for 6 weeks.

Go for it!
I had the same reservations myself regarding the age issue , but it's made my time on the course so much more enjoyable . I'm sure you will not regret it

Got mine a year ago and twas the best thing I did !! Struggled carrying for far too long, especially with a real troublesome knee, and this just makes the round so much more pleasurable, it really does.

No wonder most of us dont reach our potential when we lug a full bag around for 18 holes.

anyone thinking of it, do it, you wont look back :-)

Bought a GoKart for my wife originally but now use it myself nearly all the time. It is a great investment that you will not regret.

Hey if I could afford one I'd be getting it this weekend. If you feel less tired towards the end of a round by not carrying you will play better golf. Go for it and enjoy

Homer

It costs less than a decent, or half decent for that matter, driver. I figured that with a very dodgey knee and shoulder, from falling off a roof on an Army excrise some years ago, which were causing me a lot of pain, that the 'investment' was worth it. You never know it might help me play better as I'm not carringing or pulling the old drag trolley around.

Knowing how accomodating Mrs H is I'm surprised that you're not in the queue for one. Though I do seem to remember that you're part of the pro carrying bridgade.

Enjoy it and use it whenever you can. A mechanic wouldnt walk 5 miles carrying a tool box to fix a car, why people think its great to carry when you can put yer bag on wheels is beyond me  :p

Pros do. They're called caddies.

Well it's here. The wife claims that I didn't tell her about it, but I did tell her when the soaps were on the other evening, and nothing registers when she's waching them!

I'm amazed that it fits into the boot of a Mk1 MX5 with the wheels off, and the wheels and battery fit as well. Result.

It does seem quite long when erected, and I do feel slightly self concious with it all set up and loaded with the bag. It's not the light grey colour I was expecting, but a much darker grey, almost black, colour. Not a problem as I'm sure that it looks less plastic'y

Battery came fully charged as well.

So far so good, real test is tomorrow.

Sorry to go on, but after the 3 weeks of non stop work and boat shows, I'm really looking forward to the game tomorrow.

hapless,

I am a carrier as a norm but having played 36 holes in the club chamsp earlier in the "summer?" with intermittant heavy showers necessitating carrying full waterproofs throughout I admit I did find it a struggle although that may also be down to my abject mood and my bad golf. You know the scenario, the worse you play the more tired you play and the heavier the bag seems.

I'm keeping my options open on a motorised trolley but have dropped hints at the huse powercaddy display in AG in Camberley. I'm not necessarily after that particular make but just sowing the seeds of the idea into Mrs H's head (whether it will sink in past Eastender's Strictly, Corrie, X Factor etc etc I don't know)

Its too true that the two times in the last couple of years that I have played my absolute best was when I had a proper caddie with me, its so liberating. I am very tempted by the powakadys especially the remote control jobby - I found the more pocketsthe more I would take now I just a pencil bag with d,3, 3 5 7 9 w s and a couple of balls.

How I would love a powacaddy with a big tour bag but the mx5's boot would not accomodate.

I just had this silly thought that perhaps you'd taken the wheels off your MX5 to get the trolley in the boot...

Carrying's not for everyone so well done (for getting it past he missus) and enjoy your golf.

So it was a long day. Another 5 hour round, but that's another story.

The GoKart behaved itself; well after I clicked the battery in to place correctly. It was a little intermittent with the power until I noticed that I just hadn't quite pushed it into place. That aside I was duly impressed. My shoulder is far less painful than the old pull trolley, and I feel less knackered despite a damn awful cold.

One of my playing partners who I play with regularly, was so impressed with the leccy trolley he went straight to the pro shop and bought a Hillbilly Terrain. He wasn't quite sold on the plastic look of the GoKart, even though it folds up a lot smaller than the Hillbilly, and the battery is less fiddely.

As for the Freecaddie software on the GPS enabled phone, that was awesome. If you have a GPS phone, and don't want to spend any money, I can recommend it. It doesn't need a phone signal or be hooked upto the web to work, so should be good on all golf courses.

Ah well, product reviews over.

ps I won the match as well :D
