... is what I feel like.

No, not got new clubs in the bag or on order.

First medal of the year for me from the whites tomorrow. Winter rules gone, strokeplay, game on.
We had our first one last week but I was away and had to miss it.

Really looking forward to trying to attack my handicap again this year. Hitting it nicely at the moment, and managing to score ok when I don't.

I just hope the rain stays away!

Anyone else got their first qualifier tomorrow?

Same here for me Region.......Its my first once too and with my cast off im not expecting much but i hit 200 balls on trhe range today just to get the cobwebs out and i hit some really nice ones.....Just hope i can bring it into sunday....

If i can make the buffer ill be happy as it'll be a few months before the stiffness in the leg goes away...

Best of luck anyway for tomorrow ;)

you'll be fine Gary. Mr Consistent ! You'll be off 7 after tomorrow !:D

I hope so. There's quite a few holes at out place where you can ship shots in a hurry if you're not careful and that's what normally gets me rather than a steady leaking. Doesn't help that CSS normally goes down a shot too.

I'm going out with 2 rules for myself tomorrow that I will try not to break!

1. Don't try to hit it hard. It goes plenty far enough with a smooth swing.
2. You are not Seve. If you get in trouble, get it back in play and take double out of the equation.

Can i just ask, i hear the term Qualifier on here all the time what exactly do you mean by it. Are medals all that qualify for handicap adjustments? if they are it is a bit different from Ireland every stableford comp here is qualifying.

Yep , first qualifier tomorrow Gary. Am actually a little nervous. Hoping to get it round ok, not driving as well as I would have hoped but am hoping to shave a few off this year !!

Same over here, qualifier just means it's a competitoin that qualifies for handicapping and that every entrants card is used for handicapping purpose.
We have a mix of comps too, Medal, Stableford, Bogey, I guess Medal is the commonest though.

Things like Pro-Shop Stableford comps aren't qualifiers but if you show a consistency better than your handicap then expect to get cut at the next review.

first one last week and irons and putter were as expected after a winter of practice- very good- driver let me down (searching for one I can rely on just now) silly driver went OB on one hole and OB twice on another so an NR, but I was even par for the last 12 holes which bodes well.

Good luck Region3:thup:

Good Luck Gary.

We got our first weekend comp of the year tomorrow. Quietly confident heading into it but happy to shave something off the handicap. Played a few practice holes yesterday and the course is definetely the better for a wee drop of rain.

Our first medal is next week, missing out on the first major today though as I thought I'd let the misses have me for the long weekend.

Hoping to put in a good round and get my handicap down to 18 by end of June.

Have a great round Gary and everyone else playing in the season opening medal this weekend :) I've got my first one tomorrow and really looking forward to it. Short game practice and lessons are starting to pay off and looking forward to strokeplay off the whites. Had a little practice at the club this morning, very, very excited :D

Yup same here, got my first tomorrow since November which I won. Hitting the ball pretty well at gatton manor yesturday so will be happy just to shoot buffer if I'm honest. New swing is coming good

Well, very happy with that.

Didn't hit the ball as well as I have been, but scored very well due to getting up and down 6 out of 7 times from around the green. Missed a shortish par putt on 1 and thinned one OOB behind the 12th green from 80yds for a double bogey 6.
Was also 130 out on a 350yd hole after 2 shots, after duffing a driver then a 4 wood one after the other.

So after all that I was very happy with my +4 76.
Just waiting on the results (and CSS) being posted to see if I'll be 7.1 or 7.3

According to SS2 based on that round, my putting and bunker play are pro standard, scrambling is scratch, irons are 6hc and my driving is 23hc!

I hope everyone else has had a good day too :)

well played Gary. It's good to start the season well. At least we may have a chance at some forum meets if your handicap comes down a couple of shots :D

I'm going to break myself in gently at my new place with a foresomes comp and a midweek stableford over the next couple of weeks.

Gary,

You should have had one simple rule that would have been cast iron. If you'd have treated it like a forum meet you'd have done what you always do and clean up. Can't you get one of your partners to wear white trousers and call everyone "knob" in Smiffy style to make you feel at home

I don't ever remember being 4 under hc at a forum meet. I'd rather have the score I did.
