I have my irons 1.5 deg upright, but my wedges (except PW) are all standard. The pro who fitted me suggested that this was better for me because I tend to hit toe down on full swings, but wedges tend to be feel clubs and don't have full swings all the time.

Just curious. Does anyone else with altered lie angles in their irons have their wedges standard?

I don't have any issues with my wedges and I seem to hit them as well as my other irons, so it's just a curiosity thing, really.

Ordered my new bats after a custom fit and was advised if I was getting a new wedge to get it matched.

With the wedges, you hit a lot of half shots, chips, pitches, lobs etc etc rather than full on shots so I guess it makes a bit sense to not have the clubs too far one way or the other - especially if you hit them well.
I read a piece a while back that confirmed this but then I've also heard , like Andy, that matching them is best.

I suppose if you hit them well, don't adjust them.

Mine are the same as my irons (2° flat) but I wouldn't be bothered if they were standard.

A lot of shots with wedges you're gripping down, standing open, or opening the face so you're altering the length and lie anyway I reckon.

As above, if you hit them well now don't worry about it.

Correct me if wrong, but does the shaft not flex due to centrifugal forces acting on the club head which is off centre from the shaft, thereby forcing the toe down during the down swing? Is this not why a correctly fitting club actually sits with the toe slightly raised during address?

If so, surely we wouldn't expect the toe of a wedge to flex as much (shorter shaft, slower swing), unless the shaft itself were much softer? Therefore the lie for wedges should be flatter, or the shaft much softer?
