And so off we went this morning, my son and I, to one of our local Pro shops, to try out the G5 and G10 drivers.

I took along my Adams RPM just to show him what I've been playing with so we could compare all three together. But after looking at my club and watching me hit both Pings, he left me speechless.

He said that whilst he'd be happy to take £110 off me and let me walk away with a G10, he didn't think there was anything wrong with my present one, and not a lot to be gained.

I bought the Adams for £65 about a year ago as a stop gap, as I couldn't afford a top name driver, but always had the intention of upgrading in the future, but now I'm going to stick with it. The other upshot is that now I can get a new pair of AQLs and a Benross cart bag with the money I would have spent on the driver! Result!!

Lets hear it for the Pro, offering good advice whilst doing himself out of £100 worth of business (although I'll go back to get my shoes and bag from him next week). Hear hear!

That is why I keep telling those who ask on here to go to their local pro. Mine did me a great deal on my Sky Caddie (£269 instead or RRP of £299 and I couldn't find it for less than RRP online). OK it was only £30 but the fact that I ordered it at 12.30 on the Wednesday and it was there by the following lunchtime was pretty impressive.

He has also just done me three Footjoy Sciflex leather gloves for £25 and knocked £10 off a new pai of Dryjoys (£89 instead of £99).

it's good to know that you can trust someone to give completely honest advice, even within golf this is hard to find now with comission being highly important to sales staff in golf megastores. I feel I can trust my pro completely but I know quite a few people who do not trust theres. Glad your pro is of the honest variety.

i would certainly use the pro at my club if it wasn't for the complete lack of stock unless you want everything srixon
i do buy balls and gloves from her though, and lessons.
