Has anyone had the same problem as me of the Pro being too nice?

I used to go to a Pro in Glasgow for lessons and time after time he would say to me after duffing a shot " ok try another", "slightly better", "try this or that" etc. I was not getting any better. I felt he was being too nice and not wanting to firm enough/discourage me.

I then went to a Pro in Inverness and said don't be nice tell me as it is, just make me hit the ball properly. He would then pull me into the right position, hold me still during to stroke and tell me clearly what I wes doing wrong and how to correct it. He is great just what I needed and my ball striking has improved enormously.

yes we've all had that type of Pro, to be fair to the pro he probably doesnt really know what your learning curve or desire is so is possibly erring on the light side.

I feel its best to state at the beginning what you want ie 'just give me tweaks and nothing technical' or 'a swing thought' or 'I want fully to understand what to do to improve my game' etc etc

its all about communication IMO

I agree the best lessons I had were with a pro who told it as it rather than nicey nicey! I appreciate some people don't like this approach but it worked for me!
