Just booked half a dozen lessons - I'm 21 handicap and don't currently play it - for years I was a pretty steady 18 and played every week but due to work I haven't played or practised nearly enough over the last five years and every tee shot has become an adventure - so decided a couple of weeks ago that I'm going back to basics and going to make the time and practise hard over the winter. First lesson on Tuesday.

Wish me luck

All the best with it mate.no matter what stick with it . It'll be worth it in the end

Winter work. Love it to bits especially seeing a video from this time of year and the results the following Spring. Back to basics is never a bad thing. Hope it goes well for you and you get the rewards your hard work deserves

Good luck ,who are you going to see , hopefully try and get one this week myself

Patrick Walker at Ballumbie Castle - was at the range a couple of weeks ago and met an acquaintance who's had a couple of lessons from him recently - he'd gone back to basics and was beginning to feel the benefits - made my mind up - I need to basically start again.

Are you still leaving Scotscraig? - used to love playing there when on holiday but not been there for few years.

Good luck! I'm in the same process. Playing off 19 and seemingly stuck there. Had two lessons. First was getting to the right (ish) place at the top, took 3 weeks trying to get that right. Second was this week, and was all about taking the tension out of forearms and 'finishing' the swing. Midway through the second lesson, THE shot happened. 7 iron. Focused on doing what I was told. Finished the swing. Had no recollection of actually making contact with ball, and had no idea where it had gone. Looked for the ball, looked at the pro, followed his eyes and watched the ball drop and stop at the target flag. A full 25 yards past the 'normal' 7 iron. "Golf shot". said the pro.

"don't come back until you are hitting that regularly" he said. Never got near it yet, so off to the range for me!

I had a decent lesson yesterday.
Was quite shocked how bad my leg habit was untill seen the video.
I would lift my right leg up and push it out.
effectively swinging stood on my left foot. Yet still hitting the ball well both height and distance.
Now got a drill to keep my upper body straight and turn my right leg into my left knee.
the Pro was really good. Helped me Focus on both my strengths and weaknesses.

Playing off 28 at the moment being fairly new to golf and I have been battling to break 100 since having a 95 round. Seems as though my game is getting worse if anything.

I am also booking some lessons for the winter and hope to see a dramatic change for next season!

Here's hoping!

Where are you going for lessons. I highly recommend Rhys ap Iolo at Downshire Golf Centre

Im not too sure. I only joined there in October as moving from Bearwood Golf Club (recent sale means they'll be closing and found the same 9 holes a little repetitive). Matt is about to leave the club though according to a recent club mail out, think it said he was heading to Dubai.

Below is the 'blurb' about Symon from the clubs site.

"The Head Professional at Sand Martins and a PGA professional for 16 years, Symon has gained a wealth of experience coaching players of varying standards from raw beginners to fellow professionals. He has continued to develop his knowledge by working alongside some of the world's leading coaches and authorities on the game - he believes in staying at the forefront of modern coaching techniques.

His coaching philosophy is very simple "I believe every golfer has the ability to improve and gain greater enjoyment from the game - I see myself as the vehicle for helping players to achieve this".

Symon understands the importance of the correct equipment in the process of game improvement. He is an accomplished club fitter and trained in fitting all the leading brands. "It is without question, that when the player has the correctly fitted clubs, it has a hugely positive effect on their game"."

seems like a really nice guy. Really hoping to get an improvement over the winter.

Had a good round today. A couple of bad (silly) mistakes but on the whole felt good.
