My main putting challenge is my takeaway. On good days it's the shoulders, the putter head comes back nice and square and I'm deadly especially inside 8 feet on our greens (slow minimal break). On bad days my wrists and hands get slightly involved at the start of the takeaway leading to pulled putts.

So there I was idly flicking through GM and spied Mr 'I make everything I look at' aka Jordan Spieth espousing the benefits of left hand low. So I tried it in practice today and was surprised that it didn't feel weird but mainly by how square it keeps the club face.

Anyone made this transition and if you have were there any difficulties you faced and do you regret it or live the fact you made the change?

I tried to change - as it seemed to be the answer to a couple of similar issues I had - but just couldn't get comfortable with it!

Using my left shoulder as the driver of the back-swing sorted most of my issues out though. I'm a SBST Putter btw.

I made the change 4 months and believe it's made me a better putter. I'm a lot more confident now too.
So stick with it for a while. Could be a game changer for you!

Yeah I'm SBST as well but didn't expect to get on with it at all but it really did feel right which surprise me. Interesting to hear it's worked for you RW will give it a go on the course at the weekend and see how it holds up when it matters

Have tried it and it feels awful. However, I can use a left handed putter (I'm right handed) to good effect but only if i use my right handed grip which means that I am cack handed when putting this way.

I putt this way and have done for about 4/5 years now, took a little getting used to, but well worth it for me, I feel I lot happier putting and feel it's one of my strengths

Shoulders are a lot more sq and my stroke, back and through is a lot smoother.
I don't go baseball style I have a couple fingers over lapping.

Yes, I moved to this about a month ago after seeing Speith in the mag.

I was frustrated with pulling too many short putts so was up for trying something. It made an instant impact on the short putts and my lag putts are now much improved too without trying to actually 'do too much' different.

I have also suggested it to a playing partner and he has been holing everything for about 2 weeks now. Beat me solidly on Saturday with some monster putts.

Main thing I took from the guide was to keep the back of the left hand straight, and don't left your left shoulder drop.

I started putting left hand low early on in my golfing.

I run my right index finger down the grip and overlap the left hand on it.

It doesn't look right at all! But I feel that the index finger steadies my stroke

Just tried that. Could be a winner as it feels more natural than the overlapping approach I've been trying. Hmm plenty of good for thought. Cheers everyone

I've been trying this to some affect on my carpet at home to see if it can make a difference on the shorter putts especially. Problem I have though is the grip feels quite odd, but I'm wondering if it is because I have an oversized grip on my putter. Was thinking I might get it regripped to see if that makes a difference.

After years of putting the normal way, I would be quicker taking up calligraphy left handed.

I've never changed my grip in the 20years ive been playing (started when i was 8).

I moved in June this year, took 5-6 rounds for it to feel 'normal'.

has transformed my putting.

I tried putting left hand below right after I developed the yips a few years ago, but found it very difficult to get the length of my putts right. It was good for short putts though. Ended up using the claw grip.

I think I've nailed it now with an interlocking grip it feels as though my hands are fused and the only way to power the stroke is through the shoulders.

Woody I've got a Ping Adjustable TR Scottsdale putter so the grip is larger than standard a similar size to the SS Ultra Slim I had before. I probably need it a fraction larger to be perfect size but it's pretty close.

Roll on Saturday so I can get my roll on ;)

I changed to left hand low a month or so back after 41 putts in a comp. I overlap 2 fingers and quite quickly it felt natural once I decided to stick with it. I do put a better roll on the ball and generally feel it's a better option for me but still plemty of work to be done. Recently also started to use a line on the ball to aid alignment and that again is helping - once I learn to trust it!
