Trouble is getting the sponsors. It's sad we can't have these as regular fixtures and you'd think there would be interest from a good field as many are based in the UK anyway.

Really is a chicken and egg situation. You are not going to get a big name sponsor until you confirm that the big name golfers are going to take part and you are not going to get the big names to commit until you have a big sponsor to put up decent prize money.
If all of the big named English golfers showed similar commitment to a home tournament as shown by the Irish golfers then I have little doubt that a sponsor could be found. Sadly, unless it offers more money that whatever PGA tour event is on that week, the ex pat contingent in America do not appear interested.

To be fair, i think Messrs Rose, Poulter and Donald are attempting a similar thing with a resurrection of the British Masters. Apparently its going to be at Woburn in October and will be hosted by Poulter with the other two taking on hosting responsibilities down the line. All of this is still to be officially confirmed on the European Tour website thought!

Would be great to see, the one and only live golf I have seen was the last British Masters at the Belfry. The Open shows the finest of UK Links courses to the world and there really is room for a tounament showing the great Parkland and other types of courses in the UK
