Well, after my week away in France, where my school French slowly returned after 30 years of complete absence of use, I have decided to try to learn a little more French even if its just to embarrass my daughter. Could anyone recommend app's, cd's, language courses to help me. I would prefer written word and spoken word as I struggle with pronounciation and accents. Thanks guys.

I started by reading books in french which I picked up on holiday, then got the english version and read them simutaneously which helped give the meaning of phrases rather than individual words. If you live in or near a city check out if there is an "alliance francaise" near you, they will test your level and have courses to suit if you don't mind paying a few bob and run by native french speakers.

If you have Sky get channel 799, TV5 and switch on the subtitles, or the android App "French TV"

Bon chance. ;)

Thanks Yerman, I will take a look, it just really grates me when people cant be bothered to at least attempt the language of the country they are visiting, I know I probably sounded like the Policeman in Allo Allo but as many of the people we spoke to didnt speak English we had no choice, and the more I spoke French the more I remembered from my school days.
