Lcp question

My ball was up against the collar, one of those ones you can't really putt or chip easily . Lcp in play so I lifted it off the fringe onto the the semi, leaving a much easier shot. Question is, does the ball have to be placed back on the fringe or is it ok to put it in the rough?

The ball must be placed in the General Area. ie not in a Penalty Area, the Teeing Area, a Bunker or the Putting Green.
The General Area includes the 'fringe' and 'rough'.

Your ball is lying in the general area when it is on the fringe and you placed it in the general area. That's fine provided you met the other requirements of the Local Rule.
