Went out as a 2-ball last Sunday and remarked that I only do that 3-4 times a year (normally 4-ball is std due to carts but occasional 3-ball) and it got me thinking that I hadn’t been out for a full round as a single for ages, turns out it was over three years ago for a round on my birthday (& even then the wife was with me watching)

When I started playing pretty much every round was as a single for the first year or more until I got my brother interested in playing, and quite surprised to think back about playing solo & while it has some benefits i'm not sure I've missed it too much

How long ago/often, do you play a full round solo? (not a few practice holes after work)

Probably about once or twice a month. I sometimes wake up early on a day off work and decide to get a quick round in while my wife gets herself out of bed and takes the dogs for a walk. By the time she cleans them up and has her mid-morning drink l am home and we can do what ever we had planned to do for the rest of the day.

Every round so far this year has been solo. Tee off late Sat/Sun afternoon and finish just as it gets dark. No icy mornings and plenty of time to get other things done round the house. Come April, will start playing early mornings before work. Absolutely love it.

Last Saturday. My well play another one this Saturday. Reason being I am not a member anywhere and I only have a limited time window to play in this weekend. So if I play on my own I can be back home in 3.5 hours door to door on a good day.

Hardly ever, I might have done 9 holes on the very odd occasion but not 18. I'd rather go to the driving range!

About two years ago. I used to do it about once a week in the summer, late evening. Great way to wind down, but was too busy the last two summers. As I'm now office based I hope to get plenty of time this coming summer.

At our home course I very rarely get the chance to do the full 18 holes on my own. On the weekends it is just too busy, so the only chance are long summer evenings after work. I did do one or two full rounds on my own last summer, but it is much more often that I just play 9-holes or less. I played most of my rounds on my own during my holiday in Lytham last year, though.

last year I probably played 75% of my golf as a solo.
Being a poor sleeper I am often awake at 3.30/4am so I just take myself off for a round of golf somewhere. I love the peace and quiet of being on the course by myself.

Most of my midweek golf is as a solo player. Head up straight from work and play the course at matchplay. The course gets 18 pars and I get my shots as normal. Always ends up pretty close one way or another :-)

Quite enjoy a round on my own.. Something very relaxing about teeing off late on a Friday/Saturday and having the course to myself.. In fact, I'd say that in certain situations, I prefer to be on my own... I suppose I'm just not a social person sometimes...

I quite enjoy a nice quiet late afternoon/evening round on my own in the summer, great way to unwind and try out a few things, play 2 balls against each other etc etc.

I love going out on the course after a late finish at work, no one else around, millionaire's golf, Ipod onto something relaxing and spend an evening oblivious to everything else in the world. Nice & quick too.

Monday afternoon, play with people at weekends, but if I get a chance to get there midweek and no one is about, I'll just crack on.

During the week I would play 9 or 18 every Thursday as a warm up for weekend games. It's a good experience, being able to hit a second for confidence if you mess up a shot, or missing out a couple of holes to skip past a group if you are in a hurry without worrying about playing partners.

It also gives you more time to assess (or stew!) on shots, which I find useful.
