Hello, I'm fairly new to posting on this forum but have been reading it for a long time, I was just wondering what you guys thought about buying 'last seasons' equipment? I just got fitted for a new set if irons (I'm an 11 handicap) and when heading in store I had the cobra amp cell in mind as I had hit them before and lived them, I ended up leaving with last years cobra amp irons, the orange ones, this was because I preferred them, they looked better and the numbers and yardages were much better, plus they were over £100 cheaper! I was just wondering as the guy in the shop said its unusual for someone like myself (half decent golfer) to buy older stuff over newer. Now I'm no label junkie, I buy what I like so really don't mind what year my gear is from but are there golfers out there who would buy the dearer newer model even if the numbers aren't as good?

I wouldn't worry too much mate - there would be a massive jump between the two models anyway (if any)

Just human nature to want the latest gear regardless of what good it will do.

I bought brand new clubs that were superseded by a newer model, there was a slight change in the sole that I didn't like with the newer model.

Just get which ever clubs you are most comfortable with regardless of age etc mate

Some will always want to have the newest models out there

plenty still play decades old irons and still shoot scores. golf clubs are tools of the trade. the game doesn't change !!

I've just bought a set of the last model Nike pro combo CB irons. The new set has just been launched but I can't see much difference to be honest and certainly not £350 more expensive worth of improvements anyway.

If anything you've got the better looking of the two IMO. Winner winner chicken dinner:whoo:

Sensible shopping id say. Im after a new driver in the new year but it will be one of the older models out there

Thanks guys, I honestly went on feel and the shot results and there wasn't much in them but the older amps were better so I saw absolutely no point in buying the more expensive newer cell model, I think the salesman was more annoyed as I was paying over £100 less! By the way has anyone hit the cobra amps, damn they are nice! I have always been a Nike and callaway man but was blown away by the new cobra gear, I've been bitten by the snake!

Welcome to the Cobra family. I switched from Mizuno earlier this year after falling in love with the Amp Cell Pros. Ive hit the Amp forged and they were stunning irons. They felt just like the Ping I20's to me. I haven't hit the Amps though. What shafts have you put in them? I tried the Forged with KBS Tour Stiff +.

I went with the stock Aldila graphite, they suited me perfectly, I may update them down the line but for the moment they are brilliant. I. Looked at the forged irons and they were amazing, but I felt that to get me into single figures next season the amps were better, I really do love them (I'm very giddy) and I know a lot of people don't like the Ricky fowler orange but I love it although I draw the line at orange trousers
