Lasik and Golf

Hi Guys,

Just returned from a very long overdue eye test where I was told I could really benefit from laser eye surgery. I've quite a severe astigmatism in one eye which to be honest doesn't really bother me much. Been there since I was born and I've just got on with it.

Starting to look through some info I've been given which is all very well and good but fails to answer my one burning question.... how will it effect my golf?

Would be interested to hear from anyone who's had it.

I had laser eye corrective surgery about 15 years ago and it's been amazing. My eyes were only about 3.0 short sighted and until this year when I had a retina detachment my vision has been perfect.

In the 15 years has your vision declined?

Noticed yesterday that my specs are again no longer strong enough.

My long vision never budged from perfect over the years, I did need reading glasses as time went on but not for tv or anything other than computer work and reading.

Same, had mine done about 12 years ago, has been perfect ever since.

I had laser eye surgery around 15 years ago, within 12 hours of surgery my eyesight was perfect, it remained that way until around 5 years ago when I started to work much more on computers which has had a detrimental effect. Only in the last month have I started wearing glasses for golf, this is solely due to losing site of drives (sometimes), I can still play without them but at present I am experimenting to see which works best

In summation I would say that for me the laser surgery was hugely beneficial in all respects especially sports.

I had it done about 15 years ago. It was life changing for me and I'd recommend it to anyone considering it.

I also had a LASIK done about 12 years ago. I was terribly short sighted (-8.0 on one eye and -6.0 on the other, combined with an astigmatism which made it even worse). I got my first pair of glasses when I was four and did wear contacts for most of my adult life, which never could really correct the astigmatism, though, so my eyesight with contacts was never as good as with glasses. The surgery took care of all of that, better than the ophthalmologist predicted, he had suspected that I might still need glasses for work and driving afterwards. I did suffer from dry eyes and blurry night vision for a few weeks after surgery and was a bit worried it would stay that way, but after about 3 months I did not notice it at all any more. The only thing the LASIK could not fix was my lack of 3D vision, simply because due to the really bad eyesight during childhood and one eye being so dominant, my brain never learned to process 3D information.

I had Lasik 15 years ago, it was great, but now it is going off & I wear contacts when I play. But I never was very good at spotting a ball even before I had eye sight problems.
