I had a few shots that I totally misjudged the distance today & thought if I had one of these it would have saved me a few shots from leaving it short of the green or leaving myself a long putt on the green.

Use the search facility as this subject is often discussed. I'm in the pro camp and have a Sky Caddy 5 which is great. I tend to spray it about a bit but always get a reading of where the trouble is and where the pin is even if I can't always see or go for it. It's worth its weight nearer the green for making it easy to pick the right wedge for your approach and so you can hit the shot confident it is the right club

you won't go far wrong with a skycaddie sg5 or sgx

i brought a skyccadie sgx about 3 weeks ago its save me about 3 shots pair game best thing since sliced bread

im a lover of the gps system although im a smartphone user and have it as an app on my phone. if your worried you could be spending your money on something you wont use, why not download it as an app to your smart phone(if you have one) and test it in a few rounds, if it works for you then spend your money with a smile, if not, nothing lost.

general views on here seem that GPS's are for people who often find their selfs in positions where they cant see the pins, but range finders are for people who need to knoww the distance to the pin and they can see it. you decide which category you fall into .

I have Skycaddie, however I'm swaying towards a laser. I've just bought one so I may part with one.

Pro's and cons with both.

I've switched to laser and prefer it, just a bit more accurate and also better for recording distances when practicing imho. Both great though, I had a sonocaddie which never missed a beat and was subscription free

Same here. Going to our short course tomorrow to measure some distances with the Laser - finding out just how far I do hit wedges!

However,

If Mrs Craw doesn't look at this months bank statement too closely I may be able to keep both! :D

I have the Garmin S1 watch.I did have the app on my phone but found that I was only using my GPS for my shots into the green.
Hence the watch, It is truly a loverly bit of kit, and speeds up my play, beacuse I can just glance at my wrist instead of tugging out a large GPS device...turning the screen on.... waiting for it to settle....put it back in the pocket/bag.

I use the garmin golflogix and find it no hassle at all as it moves round the course without me touching buttons every hole

and the thing about the laser what happens with the blind shots most courses gave atleast a couple

I had a Busnell laser and then bought a skycaddie afew years later. The skycaddie is great on courses I dont know well for the reasons metioned by others but I do use the laser at my home course more as its the exact yardage to the pin that I feel in need of - may be psychological but I feel I play to the position better if I have it exact
